Description: Bryan Community’s Student Child Learning Center was opened in the Fall of 2002. Our purpose is to provide childcare for the student-parents attending Bryan Community. The center is a licensed facility and has also been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. In addition, we have met the requirements of ITERS (Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale) for the past three years. We care for 8 infants and 8 toddlers during school days.
The program is federally funded and follows the High/Scope Approach to early childhood learning. We are partially funded by the Six Pence Endowment grant that allows us to operate with a 3:1 ratio.
Parenting and early child development classes are required for all student parents, helping them understand, plan, and approach one of the most challenging and important jobs a person can do, that is, to be a good parent. The center also provides the opportunity for students to complete internships and training in the child care profession.
