Unfortunately, after having my daughter at Little Paradise since last summer, I had no other option than to withdraw her. While I appreciate the director and the staff for their care and genuine affection for my daughter, there were various issues that concerned me. First and foremost, with no teacher aide in the toddler room and 10-12 children in there during the regular school year, it often seemed chaotic. Even more, the disciplinary measures weren't consistent. I observed children hitting each other and only being told "we don't hit." That brings me to my second reason: my child no longer seemed comfortable there and sometimes yelled "not that school!" She started coming home with scratches and began fighting, hitting and pinching. I suspect these are habits she picked up from the students in her classroom, which (again) were not addressed by the staff. Third, after my daughter's teacher left in the fall, the dynamic of her class changed: I didn't know whether she was still potty training there and didn't get daily reports on her eating or napping. Additionally, my daughter kept getting sick. I realize kids get sick often, but sadly sometimes I would walk in and see many of them with mucus running down their nose and weren't being wiped immediately. I'd have to ask them to get a tissue and only then would the teacher notice. These are a few major concerns that made me withdraw my child. Some minor things I would advise any parent considering Little Paradise is the location and the parking space. The McColl location is just across Doctor's Hospital and can be difficult to get to, especially at 5. In this location the parking is also a problem, as there are only 3 actual parking spaces and a driveway that can fill up quickly. I have given an honest review not just as a parent but also as an elementary educator and a former toddler room teacher's aide as well. I hope Mrs. Lopez and her staff are able to rectify these issues to transform this into a better, more secure environment for the children.
