Description: The current Takoma Park Elementary School (TPES) building was built in 1979. Takoma Park Elementary School began as a K-6 school. When Piney Branch Elementary School opened with grades 5 and 6, students from TPES began attending. In the following years TPES would become a K-4 school. As the Piney Branch Elementary School building developed, TPES became a K-3 school. To date Takoma Park Elementary School is a K-2 school . Takoma Park Elementary School is also the only primary magnet program in Montgomery County Public Schools.
