Description: Montessori in the City, Inc. has operated this school since February, 1999. Our goal is to create a wonderful learning environment for the children who attend our school. Our relationships with the children, parents and our staff are key components for a quality school. The Montessori philosophy is based on encouraging children to feel important, self-reliant and independent in a nurturing environment. The indoor environment focuses on the academics and exhibits order, concentration, coordination and independence. Each child is able to progress at his or her own pace when working with the materials in the classroom. The classroom gives the children a sense of pride and responsibility. We feel that the outdoor environment is also very important to the child. Our outdoor play yards are specifically tailored to meet the needs of each age group. Our yards include several activities including the climbing gym and slide, sandbox and several riding toys. Also, when the weather is appropriate, the children get to enjoy water play and gardening. We hold several events during the school year when parents and extended family members are always invited. We feel that it is important to include family in all of our school events which brings a sense of cohesion and commitment, along with dedication, within our school.
