Description: Welcome to the Hughson Elementary School website. Our school is located just outside of Modesto, California in the Central Valley. We are very proud of our school, our students, our staff, and our community. Hughson has a long standing tradition of excellence. We work very hard to uphold this tradition by doing everything in our power to ensure that the students receive a first rate education, academically and socially. Our staff is experienced and they are committed to making a difference.
We are a K-3 school with over 600 students. Along with Hughson High School, Ross Middle School, and Fox Road Elementary, Hughson Elementary is part of the K-12 Unified District. Hughson Elementary School follows a traditional school calendar. Hughson Elementary also features a state preschool program which runs concurrently with the elementary. The certificated staff includes a principal, a program director, and 36 teachers. Classified paraprofessional staff, a principal's secretary, an attendance clerk/registrar, and a health technician/receptionist also serve staff, parents, and students. The school also provides resource and special day class services to students identified with special needs. There is a very active after school program at Hughson Elementary School. The school has teamed with Healthy Start to provide students with a variety of enrichment classes as well as homework help sessions. In addition, the school provides intervention programs such as after school tutoring and the afterschool program. The Hughson Elementary School staff. is dedicated to ensuring the academic success of every student.
Even though we are a large school, we still maintain the small town feeling that makes Hughson such a wonderful place to live. Our school was built in 1950, but thanks to the modernization bond, we have a new Library-Media center, the cafeteria has been upgraded, the bell, public address system, and fire alarm system have been upgraded, and we have new playground areas for the students to play in. The district motto, "Tradition With The Future In Mind," is very appropriate for Hughson Elementary School
