I found this daycare online & I was excited because it was close to my home. I haven't really had a lot of luck finding a daycare that has room for my 10 month old son or one that accepts children younger than one for that matter. I stopped by on 8/5 around 6:30pm to take a tour & I ended up paying the $75 registration fee because I planned on my son attending here &. my daughter when school is out for holidays. I started playing with the addresses to find out what my commutes would be since I work off of E Colonial, stay in Waterford & my daughter starts school at Castle Creek Elementary. The distance from my job to the daycare is about 24 minutes WITHOUT traffic but I get off at 5pm so of course there's going to be traffic. Castle Creek is 15 minutes away from the daycare, again WITHOUT traffic. My daughter will have to be picked up by 6pm so when I realized that the time of day plus traffic might put me at risk of being late to pick up my daughter, I asked for my money back b.c we moved here from SC so I don't have anyone here in FL that can pick my daughter up for me if I can't make it on time. I paid the registration fee on 8/5 & asked for my money back on 8/8. I was told that it is nonrefundable b.c they were holding a spot. A spot that I no longer need &. I'm sure they didn't lose any business from Friday to Monday from someone else looking for a spot. I checked the papers the I was given & I was not provided with a policy about the registration fee being nonrefundable nor I was told before hand even though it was implied that I was. I was however told that the registration fee is yearly. So now I am out of $75 because these people are in my opinion, greedy. If you are considering this daycare for your child, just make sure you factor everything as far as time & distance if you have other children that have to be picked up from an actual school b.c they won't care about the situation that it puts you in.

Since my family relocated to Orlando from New York we were very hard on a lot of learning and child care center here. I guess its because we went through center in NYC that didn't live up to the standards. We have heard from other parents or seen reviews on centers around South Alafaya that were supposed to be great, only to find out the opposite. Now, i'm the type of person that goes to a tour and examines from top to bottom and asks a lot of questions, plus my daughter who is now 4 can tell if she feels comfortable at a location. I truly fell in love with First Step Kids Academy the teachers were awesome, just the look at the students faces with full of happiness made me enroll my daughter. The director and the owner gave us a tour, answered all my concerns and questions. The breakfast and lunch menu were great, they consist of Spanish style to Italian style preparation. It allowed the student to try different cultural foods, that's awesome. They're classrooms are all separated with full bathrooms. Over-all my daughter felt comfortable and that was the icing of our decision. I think i wrote to much.... Great Job First Step Kids Academy!!!
