Description: Early Connections Learning Centers is the oldest nonprofit child care organization in Colorado and is recognized statewide as a leader in the field of early childhood education.
In 1897, fourteen visionary women founded the Colorado Springs Day Nursery Association, recognizing the need for child care for working women. One of the founders, Alice Bemis Taylor, donated money to build the Day Nursery to provide a permanent home for the Association. The building was dedicated “to all mothers and all children” in December, 1923. The Day Nursery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
The Colorado Springs Day Nursery Association merged with the Child Day Care Center (now Early Connections at Antlers Place) in 1973 and became Child Nursery Centers. A third site, the Gregg Bemis Center, opened in 1974 and was relocated in 1984 to a building shared with the Boys and Girls Club (now Early Connections at South Chelton). Our Sand Creek Center opened in 1995. The Home Network, a partnership with independently-licensed home child care providers began in 2000. School-age sites in Harrison School District Two schools opened in 2008.
In 2010, we changed our name to Early Connections Learning Centers. Though it was difficult to part with the history and tradition associated with “Child Nursery Centers,” it had become apparent that we needed a new name that better reflected our broad range of services for children and families.
We take pride in continuing the legacy of our founding mothers in providing high quality, comprehensive early care and education for ALL children.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

My children have been going for a year and I have recently had to find them an appropriate facility as antlers place isn't one anymore. My kids were hospitalized due to improper sanitation and sick kids not being called, which is so unfair to those poor kids and their parents who undoubtedly would have taken them home if called but hey, the center cares more about its numbers than health. After Melissa Downs telling me she was the director when I called to complain (she's not, Rebecca is) I called the enrollment center and Julie sent someone over to re teach sanitation and sick leave. Since then she has literally been making faces at me, refusing to talk to my kids when they are dropped off while greeting other kids in front of them, and when I told Rebecca she told me I was making it up. My poor kids are being treated badly and ignored by the staff because the center got them sick and I spoke out. Terrible place and their only saving grace is their teachers, who I have seen have a high turnover rate and have heard it's because they can't stand management either. Don't put your kids here. Also Melissa was telling another mom the mashed potatoes tasted like cardboard when she was going over the menu with a mom with a picky eater and my kids always say they are hungry when I pick them up so there food is horrible (as Melissa said herself).
