Established in 1990, Discovery Place is a trusted daycare center in our community. Several of our teachers have been with Discovery Place for more than 18 years. We also have young employees that have the energy and spunk to keep up with your little ones.
The daycare has 8 classrooms; each serves a different age group. Additional large shared spaces allow for mixed-age play twice per day. Discovery Place accepts children from 6 weeks to 6 years old.
Hours of operation are from 7:00AM to 5:30PM. We take 6 holidays off during the year and have closed 3 times in all of our years for inclement weather. Our playground is oversized and ready for bike riding, running and imaginative games! We are open on Christmas Eve and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Learning time includes exploration and age-appropriate curriculum: math, language, phonics, free writing, science, self-help, and most importantly, developing social skills.

I have been using this daycare since 2015 when my son was 10 weeks old, he is now in 1st grade and loved all his teachers. He was well prepared for Kindergarten. We never had any issues with the daycare. Our youngest is currently 2 years old and also loves his teachers and going to daycare. He is already learned counting and colors. I have nothing but good things to say about this daycare and the providers. I highly recommend.
When my wife and I were looking for childcare for our infant son we started by asked friends and co-workers who had kids. Four of the first five people we asked recommended Discovery Place. One friend went so far as to call Discovery Place on the spot and started talking like old friends with the director, Ms. Sharon. The friend's kids had been out of Discovery Place for three years.
My son has been at Discovery Place for almost three years now. He loves his teachers and has learned so much from them. Most of the teachers have been with the Discovery Place for 10+ years. Another benefit of Discovery Place is the socialization the children gain by playing with other children their age. I have friends who keep their kids home or use in-home daycares and their children are not as social or as verbal as the children in my son's class.
I recommend Discovery Place to anyone who has kids or plans to. They have always provide our family with fantastic childcare.
After much comparison, I chose Discovery Place in 2004 to care for my 3 month old. Although child care centers typically cost more than in-home care providers, having steady dependable child care with standard operating hours outweighed the cost savings for us. I am so pleased and impressed with Discovery Place. Very quickly I witnessed the caring teachers help my infant get in a routine schedule and really love my child. I did not hesitate to send our second child to Discovery Place as my oldest went off to kindergarten.
Over the months and years, I have watched my children grown and learn while attending Discovery Place. Outside of the center, I would be amazed at all of the things that my kids would say about the earth, nature, sun, moon, animals, etc. that hey had leaned at Discovery Place. I equally love how the children are taught to respect others and have good manners. DP offers an excellent program that is administered by the most qualified director and staff. Speaking of the staff, I truly believe the Discovery Place staff are what sets this child care center apart from every facility in the Jefferson City area. Decades and decades of combined experience and one of the few places in which many of the staff have worked at Discovery Place for 10-15+ years. This should say more to a parent than almost anything! The staff is the key to a successful child care center! Discovery Place teachers provide an awesome teaching and loving atmosphere for kids to develop and grow.
Don't be fooled by other child care centers in the area. The DP core curriculum and staff provide a safe, consistent, and loving learning environment. I would encourage every perspective family to visit Discovery Place and see for themselves. The teachers, the children, and the dozens of satisfied families make Discovery Place really stand out and worth every dime!
