Description: Bright beginnings begin here and never end. At Dawn's Early Light we provide a structured learning environment that stimulates a child's heart and mind. Children have a chance to develop skills in cooperative play, social interaction, leadership and compassion. All of this while having fun! Activities are planned to encourage children to expand their potential without thinking about it, to enhance reasoning skills and to form wholesome observations about the world we live in. Each age group is provided with developmentally appropriate activities and centers.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

Findings: During the inspection, it was observed that the individualized activity plans for infants and toddlers did not contain the name of the staff member who is assigned primary responsibility for the care of the child during each staff shift. Instead of listing the staff member, the line on the form was either blank, had the parent name written in that space and one had the child's physician's name written in that space. When this was brought to the attention of the Director, she modified all of the forms to reflect the correct staff member responsible for each child in the Little Patriots infant room and the Navigator room which includes toddlers and two year old children. Therefore, this non-compliance was corrected on-site.

Findings: During the inspection, Licensing Specialist observed a butcher knife and a steak knife in the common kitchenette area where the rooms for the Infants, Toddler 2s, the 4-5 year olds and school agers converge. All three doors to the classrooms were closed and the children were inside their classrooms at the time. The school agers were not present at the time of the inspection. However, the butcher knife and steak knife were sitting in the drying rack on top of the counter where it could be accessible or accidentally knocked off. Please ensure that potentially harmful items are out of the reach of children and securely stored. Center Director secured the butcher knife and steak knife in the cabinet above the counter which is locked. Before the end of the inspection, the Center Director had both knives removed from the Center. Therefore, this non-compliance is now corrected.

Findings: During the inspection, keys were observed to be in the key hole of the medication lock box in both the Toddler 2s room and in the 3-4 year old room. Having the key in the key hole of the box makes the medication potentially accessible to children. The medication box in the Toddler 2 room contains liquid Motrin. There was also a stack of chairs below the box in which children could potentially use to climb up and access the box if there is not proper supervision. There was an inhaler located in the lock box in the 3-4 year old room. When this was pointed out to the Center Director, she immediately removed each key and placed them on a designated hook in a cabinet and secured each cabinet. Therefore, this non-compliance is now corrected.
