About the Provider

My philosophy of childcare in a nutshell is, ‘let them be little’. I am a strong advocate for play. Children learn through play. As tiny babies we all begin the basics of play as we learn to grasp, roll, scoot and walk. Once those milestones are met, the world is our playground. Through play children are able to learn, practice, and master all the things they need to know to be successful in school and life. Children need to be given ample time to ‘free play’ choosing the type of activities that they are most interested in at that moment. Free play is essential to children’s learning and growth. I plan fun and exciting opportunities to learn during our preschool time. The children are encouraged to participate in the activities, but are never forced to participate in something they are not comfortable or developmentally ready for. I do not focus on academics, instead I focus on the needs of the children and how to teach them through their interests and play. I believe in building a child’s self-esteem and self confidence is key to their success in school and life. I try to do this through teaching them they are important individuals and teaching them the skills necessary to be independent. Children need to be in control of his/her own emotions and should be able to take care of as many of their own ‘self-help’ skills as developmentally appropriate. Therefore, we will be teaching your child to put on their own shoes, tie shoes, put on jackets, wash hands, clean up after themselves, etc. at developmentally appropriate ages. I want to provide a warm home-environment for your child that allows them to feel comfortable, loved, and safe. I want your child to love coming to learn, grow, and build lasting relationships with myself, my staff, and the other children in our care. I know children need love, support, encouragement, consistency, and direction everyday many times through the day. We will try our best to ensure your child feels a sense of belonging and loved every day. Thus, creating an environment they feel free to explore and learn in. I believe that kids need to be kids. And to be a kid they need to play. And play is messy. Play is dirty. If they are messy and dirty, they are having fun and learning. If they are having fun and learning, I have done my job!
