Description: My name is Alice Crouch and I am the owner of Children’s Nest Day School. We have seven schools in the greater Tampa Bay area: one each in Temple Terrace, Hyde Park, Town and Country, Plant City, Brandon, Northdale and Lutz. I began in the child care industry by teaching in the classroom. In 1979, I felt there was a great need for quality child care in the Tampa area. That was when my company was founded. Today we have a combined enrollment of over 750 children.
Our primary purpose is to provide the highest quality of service to the children and families we serve. We’ve made a great effort to insure there is a balance of quality with affordability. We are not simply baby-sitters. We provide stimulating, developmentally-appropriate curriculum for all our younger preschool children along with fun, exciting activities for our older school-age children. We supply the tools and materials that stimulate self confidence, a positive self image and a life long desire for learning. Additionally, each of our schools is nationally-accredited, and we take great pride in holding ourselves to the highest standards in the industry.
The Children’s Nest Child Care Centers, Inc. is locally owned and operated. I am actively involved in the daily operation of each school; if you have a problem, I will handle it quickly and to your satisfaction.
We take tremendous pride in our reputation as one of Tampa’s finest child care facilities, and we work hard every day to keep it that way. Thank you for giving us a chance to serve you.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

My son has been going to Children's Nest since he was 1 year old and we always had a great experience, until this year. The first year of VPK, he moved into a classroom and it has been nothing but problems ever since.
They have 2 classes for VPK and one of them just happens to be partially run by the daughter of the director, Tracy Bailey, whom does not hold a teaching certificate. The director has now expelled the 4th 4-5 year old child in the last 5 months from the school because the teacher "cannot handle the children." Every time there is an incident with any child in this class, it is during the time that the actual, licensed VPK teacher is out of the building, leaving only the director's daughter, Kayla to look after the kids. She is not capable of adequately supervising 20+ children on her own, and spends most of her time either looking at her phone or filling out numerous incident reports for kids, leaving the kids to their own.
After speaking to a few of the other teachers, to my surprise, none of this is a surprise to any of them. The nepotism shown in this building alone has made several of the other teachers leave, now leaving the school heavily understaffed. I have noticed over the past 12-18 months while picking my son up that most of the teachers have been replaced at least once. When I would pick up my son every day I would always notice how I rarely recognized most of the teachers any more and only a handful recognized me anymore.
As furious as I am about the situation that a few horrible teachers and 1 crooked director have placed us in, I am more upset for my son. It was heartbreaking having to tell him today, a week after he turned 5, that he would no longer be seeing some of the teachers he's loved and friends he has known nearly his whole life. He still does not understand what he did wrong and that would make the teachers suddenly yell at him this morning and drag him to the office, then kick him out the way they did without even talking to us. After 4 years of going to this school and to suddenly be shown such blatant disrespect and disregard for my son, makes me sick.
If you must place your child in this school, be warned that they will never receive the proper care and attention every kid needs and deserves.
My grandson has been at The Children Nest since he was two and a half, he is now seven. It is the best place. When your child can’t wait to get there, you know they are doing something right. We love Ms Cheyanne, Ms. Tracy, Ms. Hailey, Ms Annette, Ms Kathy, Ms Linda and all the other wonderful people there. I’m so thankful for!
