Both of my children attended Children's Corner Child Care in Petaluma from age 2 - 5. I, an overly protective and almost paranoid mom when it comes to my children (and proud of it!). I had a very hard time letting go and leaving my child in someone else's care. After my first meeting with Jan the director and after meeting Ms. Stacy and Ms. Lori who would be his teachers, I quickly succumb to the fact that my child was going to be ok and in fact, it would be very very good for him. Every morning, he would run to Ms. Stacy and crawl up to her and hold onto to her as it was his safe haven as I was leaving. She was so nurturing, warm and loving and I knew he was in safe hands. After a while, he could care less that I was leaving. That was year one.
Year after year, each classroom and set of teachers were just the best. I don't know how to explain it but these people are "Angels on Earth" with children. They have all been there for a very long time and truly understand each and every phase small children go through and have the ability to treat each one as if it were their own. Personally, I don't know how they do it, but they do. I witnessed it for a combined 8 years.
I highly recommend Children's Corner, each room is like a "mother's nest" filled with bright colors, fun things, live pets, and a great learning and loving environment. The director knows the name of each and every one of her children. One day I was in her office and a little boy was crying and crying and his mom who had to leave, brought him to Jan (the director). He immediately stopped crying and sat on her lap as happy as can be. It was obvious they had a special connection and at that very moment, he needed to see Jan before he went into the group setting. She soothed him, walked him to his classroom and he was happy. It was special to witness that.
I would not look anyplace else for a child care for my children. You won't find a more conscientious, loving, and caring group in this town.
