Chapel Childrens Center

Colbert Chapel has been in the North Spokane area since 1906. In 1973, Pastor Walt Henderson began directing a new Colbert Chapel Preschool. After working with the preschool for three years, a need became clear for a Christian-based daycare in the area. Together with his wife Geri, and a fellow church member, Billye Anderson, Chapel Children's Center was formed. In the words of Billye Anderson, "This was a time when families were stil adjusting to both parents working. We knew that if children had to be out of the home we wanted them to be in a good safe place, in the love of Christian people."

Years later, our center still has the same goals. Family has stayed close. Two main supervisors in the Daycare are Ms. Jackie, daughter of Walt and Geri Henderson, and Ms. Shelly, niece of Billye Anderson. Current director, Elaine Sherer, has attended Colbert Chapel church since early childhood, worked at the Daycare during high school and has been in the position as director since 1997.

Our center has a unique experience to offer your family. Many of our current families have been with us for years, and have come to know Colbert Chapel and Chapel Children's Center as their "home away from home". We hope your family can join them.
