Description: OUR CENTER: The NOAA center opened its doors in September of 1993. We are a NAEYC accredited, GSA sponsored childcare center. We have a capacity for 85 children, ages Six weeks - Five years, with six classrooms. In addition, we have a non-profit parent board (Little Explorers) that we contract with to provide service at this location. We are located in NOAA Building Three in downtown Silver Spring (1315 East West Highway), conveniently located at the corner of East West Highway and Colesville Rd (Route 29) as well as directly behind the Silver Spring Metro Station. NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is the federal agency that sponsors our location. Therefore, we do offer priority on our waitlist to NOAA families, followed by other federal families, prior to the general community. The center is open Monday-Friday (with the exception of Federal Holidays) from 6:30 A.M. -6:30 P.M. Our ratios are 1:3 for infants and toddlers; 1:6 for twos; and 1:10 for preschool children. Tuition varies based on the age group and number of hours per day you will utilize the center. The childcare center is located on the terrace level of the NOAA building. Therefore, we are not visible from the street and the center is completely secure. Entrance to the center is granted only through photo badge access (which all parents and guardians receive) or by signing in at the security desk. There is a parking garage located under the center, with four free drop-off and pick-up spaces for parents to park in. The center also has a large, secure, state-of-the-art, rooftop playground for the children to use, which is a rarity in the busy downtown Silver Spring area!
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
