During my brief time with this school it is my obligation to report that these two ladies are not suited to run such an establishment. The teacher/student ratio is unbalanced and as a result, the children suffer. They spend an abundance of time outdoors, exposed to elements, at times, 2 hours or more. This results in a child being exposed to heat exhaustion, countless mosquito bites, and potential illness. Illness, because for the few that nap, they go in, drenched in sweat, into an air conditioned (wall mounted, in addition to central cooling) environment which leads to colds or worse, bronchitis. Due to the shortness of staff, the napping children are left unattended. It is during this time that the remaining children are outdoors for a better part of 2 hours. The restrictions of this school prompts the children to perform art activities outdoors, so the classrooms remain paint free. They also have them eat outdoors to avoid spillage or cleanups. There is no consideration of heat index whatsoever. I complained that the time outdoors was too excessive. In addition, I observed a parent sitting his son inside his truck for a bit, to cool him down, because of how red his face was from being outdoors so long. I mentioned this and expressed my concern about the time outdoors. It wasn't until after Hurricane Matthew's that they decided to relocate the tables. This change was only due to the berries falling from the tree onto the table. One of the director's brought in a family member, lacking required qualifications to be around children, because the school is understaffed. While the partner wss visited by her life partner, therefore, leaving me outside with the mixed age groups, during nap time. This also increases the risk of injury because of the shortage of supervision. They've discarded food so as to make the parents believe their child ate the majority or all of their packaged meals. There are areas of the outdoor carpeting, unsecured, despite being instructed to get fixed, over a month ago, following an inspection. They've changed diapers and pull-ups out in the play ground. I, sincerely, have my doubts about the running of this establishment.
