Miss Julia is a tyrant. She treats the staff poorly and the kids even worse. All of the comments here are dead on. Her husband Pat has a concealed firearm as well. I wish I had known that before because he's often at the school. Is he carrying his weapon around children?
Don't waste your time here. The pretty building is just window dressing for a terrible place for children.
Our son was kicked out after 3 years there! This review is long over due but I waited months before posting it because I didn't want to do it out of blind anger but I do read rely heavily on reviews for everything in my life so this is for the people that are like me :).
When our son first started this school in vpk it was like the garden of eden we all loved it so much! My son was so excited for school and we were heads over heals for the school as well. We everything changed when the owner took over the daily management of the school a couple years later. apparently we didn't know that she was a tyrant with the teachers and staff and made life very hard there for them. The woman in charge for most of my sons time their left abruptly I don't even think she finished the semester and that was our first of many clues. Because she was amazing and apparently a buffer between the owner and most other people. Every teacher my son had left ever year and they all were so great it was heart breaking to see them go but they never really gave a reason. Then his last semester there his teacher quit mid school year and that was even worst than usual so my wife innocently mention to the owners son that she was concerned about teachers leaving the school especially mid school year ! And that's what it took for our son to get kick out mid year! After 3 years of being part of the "Bb international family" that's it! He was treated as if this was not all he had known, all his friends for his entire life was here including his best friend. And just like that one day he couldn't go to the school he loved anymore! Now full disclosure , we owed money . I switched careers and my first closing and pay check was schedule about 3 weeks after he was kicked out. The owner knew this and made arrangements with us that we could pay what we owed when we closed. Now she waited 3 months for this closing with no problem. But as soon as my wife made this comment to her son about teachers leaving she summoned my wife to her office and proceeded to yell at her about owing her money and if we didn't pay in 2 days my son would be kicked out. Now she had money from his scholarship a few thousand and I did close on time and had way more than enough to pay what we owed plus the entire next semester. My wife was shocked and I was pissed when I heard how she spoke to my wife and how she threatened my son which she supposed loved all these years and even gave the Nobel peace prize too. It took all my will and a lot of praying not to go and curse her out. Instead I went that day and took my son out of the school and prayed that I wouldnt see her because I would have not have kept my peace. The way I saw it was that she showed us who she really is and I didn't want my son in that environment any longer even if we could have borrowed the money it didn't matter. I felt as if my son and my family meant nothing to her. After we learned from my son that he wasn't loving the school as much as he used to. He said that the owner she would be smiling with the parents but always yelling at the kids he said she had us all fooled. I guess he was right!
Our child is doing better in 1 week at his new school, than he did in almost a year at this travesty of a school.
Shocking neglect, discrimination and profiling of little children. Will try to convince you that your child is somehow abnormal and needs special "treatment", at extra cost of course.
Teachers are visibly prejudiced in their handling of children. Often when we picked him up in late afternoon, he would have new "play ground injuries", always dirty clothes, mouth and nose covered in food from trying to eat lunch several hours ago.
All of this is encouraged by the school administrator, who is incredibly un-professional and fosters prejudicial treatment of kids based on her "assessment" of parents.
We are contemplating suing them for neglect, endangerment, discrimination and repeatedly lying to us
Advise all parents to stay away.
Back when we toured the school in the spring, staff was friendly and willing to answer all questions. We were told many things that made this seem like an amazing place and told of programs and events that would take place and never happened the time we were there. On the first day enrolled there, we found out there had been a change of admin and we were unable to ask any questions. Teachers and admins were rude. We were scoffed at or laughed at with any questions. They refuse to offer curriculum or insight into what our children do all day. The final straw was when my child was hurt (He has a scar and we are about 10 weeks out) but I was not provided with an incident report for over 3 days until I asked. When trying to discuss with the admin, I was denied so I wrote a letter and that was met with laughter from the "acting admin" who told me she "let everyone read it, so I am sure someone will answer it soon" This place is nothing but money hungry and treats your child like a dollar sign instead of like a child. Perhaps if your child starts here young and is used to teachers being rude and no structure, this would work for you, however, most of the parents I know that have been there either pulled their kid or were counting the days until they could. I have sent my complaint to the State with pictures, details and everything that should help to get someone over there and check things out - if you have had an issue, i urge you to do the same so that even if your child is safely out of there, another parent does not put their child there. Being yelled at for coming "inside" during drop off (when they would not answer the door) gives me some very high suspicions and honestly, I hope the state can check them out more carefully before keeping them open.
Both of my children attended BBI and had incredible experiences. The staff care deeply about the children, their education, and their well-being. BBI has an incredible curriculum, a wonderful art program, cooking classes, language immersion, yoga, karate, as well as ample time for the children to explore and play. I would highly recommend BBI!
I truly do not understand the reviews on here. As a member of the BBI Family, I cannot disagree more with all of these comments. You should tour the school and do the research yourself as you will be completely amazed with the quality of education, cleanliness, knowledgeable staff, incredible learning environment, and the products the children create. This is the most inspirational education center which engages creativity and fosters the highest level of learning.
. Unfortunately, this school has a hire turn over rate for their employees. the owner treats them "less than", but expects them to her mouths to the parents. The dissatisfaction with their job shows in their lack of compassion and concern for the children. the educational level of the staff at the school barely looks good on paper and they make little money. It's all politics and smiles no real information. disrespect and judgement from the staff while they have little experience as a parent or teacher. athe VPK kids change classes 6times a day...there is a reason this is the only school that does this. Don't waste your $ it's not close to what they say it is on the broward county vpk website. That old house is filled with mold
Do not be fooled by the beautiful facility. Constant staff turn around. My 1 year old was sick on average once every 3 weeks. While still in the infant room I was called and told my daughter turned blue then vomitted. If she turned blue why did they call me instead of an ambulance??!?! There were just too many children in a single class room to prevent illness. The staff that do stay for any signifcant duration of time do not speak English. Finally, after about 9 months my daughter's pediatrician said that I need to change schools, explaining that no matter how clean the facility you cannot prevent the contagious children from spreading illness to others. A high number of children in the class obviously increases the likelihood of exposure. I discussed this issue with Julia, the owner/director. To her credit, she made the decision to change the structure of the school; eliminating the infant and 1 year-old rooms. I suppose they had to be eliminated because they would not produce enough income with a more reasonable capacity. Last, Julia just has a bad attitude. Lastly, they do not keep good finanial records. Twice I was asked to pay for a week of care that had already been paid for... Both times it was corrected as being in error - but still no one wants to deal with that.
This school cannot keep its teachers, please ask about this matter before sign up. We see a new teacher every few weeks and previous teachers leave. Our children are there for a lack of better place in the area. Owner Julia or Judy is friendly at first but will get rude and smart with you. She thinks Italian preschool system is the best for kids and that’s what she promotes. Her husband takes care of financials and drives around a Porsche; your kid is a number to him. Nice building, nice environment but also the most expensive in Pompano Beach.
The Director of this school, Julia, is impersonal, rude and treats staff so poorly that my child's teacher changed 3 times in a 6 month period. When my husband went to a meeting to discuss my child's issues with listening, she refused to speak to him because I was not present. Then he was told by someone he had never seen before that as parents we do not spend enough time with our child and that is why he is having behavior problems, not because the entire staff in his class changed multiple times in a short period. Do not take your children here, they will be confused and unhappy.
