Unprofessional Jul 20, 2016

If zero was part of the ratings, that would be my number to pick. I have worked there for about 5 months. Staff besides the teachers we're very unprofessional. The owner seemed lost almost all the time. I was in the one year old class. I did love my students however I didn't like what was going on there. These kids were eating the same things every week...was never a change up. And they were always given a limited amount. They would yell at the kids. I had a child that came in that had a medical problem that I noticed. I told the owner about it because I knew something was wrong. He was at a walking stage but for some reason he would not walk that day and would crawl. At first I thought he was just having his little moment that day but the more I paid attention...tried to see what was wrong with him myself before telling her. Well after seeing that it was something somewhat serious I told her and she kind of brushed it off like it was nothing. When his dad got there I told him he may have to bring him to the doctor because he had refused to stand and or walk. The owner came into the classroom with another staff member and made it seem like I shouldn't have said anything to the parent and it could have been my fault he was like that. The father looked at them and was like in shocked they would blame me but he noticed his son the night before and didn't think nothing of it as I did until I told him my experience with him. The next morning when he came he told me he brought his son to the hospital and something was wrong but it was something that would go away on its own. The staff looked dumbfounded and so confused. They would be so mad if the kids would hit or scratch another child and of course the parents would be notified but when it came to their niece/granddaughter who was in my class at the time, they brushed off her wrong doing and it was almost like she was rewarded for it. Their attitudes are nasty. I really don't think the owner knows how to run a daycare. Teachers were great but the rest of the staff unprofessional and ridiculous. I would not send my child there if it was free. They may treat some kids good and great but not always. Seems as if they play favorites. Should be getting paid more than 7.25 because the teachers not only doing their jobs but also what the rest of the staff should be doing. I've seen them drop a child from their program because her grandmother brought her in during naptime. The child was in my class and was coming from a doctor appointment. I hated seeing her go...I loved her so much....but they were wrong....I would not consider this the best place to bring your kids.

RUN! Jan 07, 2016
I have used this provider for less than 6 months

Management is horrible. From my experience, the owners are NOT people persons and they handle matters personally rather than professionally. If management hears information that they do not agree with it WILL affect your child's care. My child was forced to leave the daycare due to a PROFESSIONAL inquiry between myself and the owner Mrs.Rachel. As for the facility as a whole, the owners do NOT put money into fixing it. The toilets are broken and mended together with tape, the children's toys on the "playground" are broken with sharp plastic edges sticking out, dead birds hang from the entrance and the classrooms consist of broken baby dolls and trucks. As obvious as these items are, they are ignored. The teachers are wonderful and I think they would teach the kids wonderfully if management gave them the resources to do so. Specifically, Mrs.Rachel (the owner) is highly unprofessional and seemingly unqualified to run a daycare professionally and too a standard that all parents should hold her accountable for.

Run Away Fast Sep 25, 2015
I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Don't walk, RUN away as fast as you can! I gave this place the benefit of doubt and went against my best judgement because I was in desperate need and they offered the hours we needed. The first sign I didn't listen to was the uncleanliness of the entire place, inside and out. For several months a dead bird dangled from the ceiling above the entrance. The bathrooms are nasty and don't appear to be ever cleaned. Half the toilets are broken, missing seats/lids, and put together with duck tape! The classrooms have little to no decent working toys for the children to play with, broken kitchen sets, OLD dirty hot rod cars, puzzles and board games that have obviously not been taken care of. My child always complained about the food. For breakfast they're given half a pop tart or a very very small bowl of cereal. They sometimes have grits as thick as paste which my child described as eating actual "gritty gravel" that they needed to pour their minuscule amount of room temperature milk in in order to eat! Occasionally they have eggs or rather egg beaters (they do not serve real eggs here) with a half piece of COLD butter toast.
The outdoor playgrounds are nonexistent. There is no playground equipment for them to play on, a few plastic playhouses which the kids are told not to play in, gravel pits which they are also told not to play in, a large patio covered in bird feces and the occasional dead bird.
Lunch for these kids is pretty much the same thing weekly! Blue Runner red or white beans (twice a week) ground beef "stew" (twice a week) or "Jambalaya" (twice a week) (1 pound of sausage with 5 pounds of rice!) Macaroni mixed with a block of velveta (twice a week) and EVERY Friday they get a half "sandwich" that consist of bread and 1 deli think slice of cheap ham or turkey (Land of Frost brand). This is the menu that rotates through the month! Occasionally when the "cooks" are late or just plain lazy they will have "Little Caesars" pizza or chicken nuggets/fish sticks. Vegetables consist of whatever comes in a can and same thing with the fruit. Nothing is balanced, nothing is healthy. Snacks are just as bad, 1 or 2 crackers or a cookie.

On to the educational aspect of this place... The ONLY person who ever actually taught the children anything would have been Mrs. Amy. I don't know why she's not there anymore but when she left all the other good, decent teachers left too. After that the daycare sent out a letter to parents trying to explain why or what was going on, but all that did was make it more obvious as to what kind of daycare this actually is. Mrs. Amy taught the kids how to write, read, social skills, math, everything they needed to know before going to kindergarten. She made sure that the kids got what they needed and I know she spent a lot of her own money in her classroom. I wish I knew where she was teaching now because that's where I'd put my child. Someone told my husband she was opening a daycare but we don't know if she did. When she left is when we decided we really needed to go someplace else. If Mrs. Amy was still there, I would put my kids back there because she is just that good.

This could be a really great daycare if the owner would just listen to her parents and clean the place up. There's a pile of gravel laying in the parking lot handicap spaces that's been there even before we started going there. By the road the sign has been knocked down and never repaired, a bunch of bags of sand are just laying on the ground. The outside appearance is not inviting nor professional.

Mrs. Kelly in the office yells at the kids, I've experienced this first hand numerous times, I even walked in one morning because I forgot to give my child something and she was yelling at my child! My child told me at nap she would take their shoes away and tell them that she was throwing them away. My child was scared of Mrs. Kelly.

Mrs. Rachel, the owner, used to be never there. Recently her and her new husband have been there a lot more. I don't think she really knows how to fix her daycare. I'd suggest she get her teachers back and clean up the place. I've been met by blank stares when trying to speak to her on several occasions which left me with more questions than answers.

I'll finish by saying that we really did give this daycare a chance. We were only happy for the time when the teachers were constant. I'll even say that the only reason we stayed as long as we did was because my child loved their teacher, Mrs. Amy. There is a revolving door for "teachers," the turnover rate is extremely high!

Be forewarned, open your eyes when you tour this facility. Ask the hard questions, remember it's your child that you're placing in their care.

If in the future, if I am informed of any changes made at this daycare, I'll update my review. I have friends that still have their children in this daycare, so I will get updates on occasion.

Best of Luck!

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My kids have been going to this daycare for years and they love it! I have a 3 year old and a school ager and they both love it as well. Sometimes my 3 year old cries to leave with me because he wanted to stay with Mrs. Amber. Every day for the time he was in her class he would run from me because he wanted to stay with her. Mrs. Shannon and Mrs. Rachael, the owner, were willingly and lovingly hugged every single day by my kids when I pick them up to go home. I would recommend this daycare to others!

Amazing daycare Jul 30, 2015
I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Ms. Racheal and ms. Keely are phenomenal office staff. Every time I walk through the door they are there to greet me very kindly. Ms. Shannon too. She is an amazing staff and always make sure the teachers know what's up. Every kid in that day care loves all three of them and so do I. I couldn't thank them enough for everything they do for my children and everyone else. All the teacher or very well off with there jobs they know how to make every child feel important. For charlie in the baby room to Kelli in the schoolaged kids room. I am amazed with how well they work as a team and keep these kids on the right track. I would recommend this daycare over any, including gateway and color wheel. My children attended both and I would definitely pick this one over any. Please if you want your child to be in great loving, caring, and christian hand this is the place to go.

No!! Jul 15, 2015

Wow! Screaming, yanking kids, the owners get in the kids faces and yell. A women that teaches the one year old class seriously mishandles the kids, getting in their face and pops their hands. The kids are always hungry and never given enough food. I didn't want my child there because of what I seen and the classes had so many kids, an half of them standing on tables and fighting. I seen one child with a broken piece of plastic from a cup! The bathrooms are horrible. They have no paper to put down when they are changing kids on the changing table. The bathrooms smell horrible too. I went in with a open mind because come on its kids, but what hurt me the most was seeing the owner grab a boy by the arm and almost slammed him into the wall and told him "if you gonna play on your food you don't get to eat".I don't understand how they are still running or how they haven't went to jail. I called and complained.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I am a current parent of All About Kids....i moved in the area last June and my children started going there in September of 2014. I will be honest and say that I have been in many daycare settings and by far, All About Kids was the best setting I have had my children belong to. ALL DAYCARES have stained carpets (its children for Christ's sake), and ALL daycares give a mix of cookie cake and healthy snacks.....but what I LOVE the most about All About Kids is that the children that attend that daycare of pleasant and loving and are not malicious and have ill intent to harm other children. That is direct reflection of great parenting and great directing to not allow that behavior to go on and I will pay any amount of money for that peace of mind! If there is a concern you can address it with Ms. Shannon or any of the other managers and they handle it immediately....no daycare is perfect, not even the ones that charge $500.00 a week per child, but its the serenity that you have that counts and I am always assured of their safety when I bring them there. I am a satisfied parent at All About Kids!

I am an employee

With it just being my first day , it was obvious that this place was by far the worst yet. I should of caught the hint when my interview wasnt even professional the week before . Anyhow i arrrived just as they were opening , pulling kids into the daycare to their "movie room" making all the kids stay there until breakfast was served . Breakfast was just cereal , which they allowed the kids to get as much as they want. If a kid didnt want milk they couldnt have cereal at all . You get milk , the only way you dont is if you're allergic . They really talk to the kids any kind of way and talk about every empolyee behind their back . Its pretty sad they way the yell at the kids constantly . They have snack time in the morning & they still get sweets , like cupcakes & cookie cake . Unhealthy . Then for lunch (friday) they have sandwichs with green beans and pinapples . Theres nothing really for the kids to do other than stay in the rooms w| little games or little toys to play w| . Honestly i didnt think this was gonna be ran the way it was. Very displeased w| what i observed . I can honestly go on & on about the things they do wrong but its just my first day . Just trust this isnt a place to bring your kids !!!

This daycare is run by incompetent adults. The owner puts herself above the business which causes confusion amongst all the employees. The children are fed very unhealthy meals and NEVER does the kitchen staff follow the meal plan. Beanie weenies and blue runner beans are fed to the children nearly every week. Fruit cocktail or pineapple, NEVER are the children given fresh vegetables or fruits. On Friday they have sandwiches which consist of 2 slices of bread and 1 very very thin piece of meat! The office staff is never on the same page. Teachers and the office staff yell and grab children by their little arms and get in their little faces and this is called discipline! I would NOT take my children to this daycare. All the good teachers are gone because they've all grown disgusted with the owners lack of commitment, responsibility and decent wages. (They pay minimum wage to nearly all employees except a select few) The carpet is covered in stains from spills, children peeing on the floor, or vomit. There is NO outdoor play equipment and the play yards have very dangerous drop offs where a child could easily be injured. Rules change daily and the owner speaks of parents in a derogatory fashion, behind their back or when the parent is not present. The owner also stalks employee Facebook pages. Bottom line, at one time the place was probably a clean facility with caring teachers, this is no longer the case. Take heed and follow your gut instinct. If it doesn't look right, it's probably not.

My children have been going to AAK since they opened the doors. I agree that it's one of the cleanest daycares that we have been to. My kids love it there and I'd recommend it to anyone.

My child has been enrolled in this childcare facility for 2 years now and so far my experience has been great. Its by far one of the cleanest and newest facilities I've seen. I've only ever been treated with kindness during my child's enrollment. I'd recommend this Daycare to anyone searching for childcare needs in Gonzales.

Saddened & Disgusted Aug 08, 2012

I went into the daycare today to register my 2 year old son. I was not greeted by any employees. I was only gawked at, and after waiting several minutes, was finally approached by a very rude and unfriendly woman who didn't even introduce herself. She then asked what my business was being there, and when I asked her about enrollment, she just looked at me as if she didn't understand a word of English coming out of my mouth. She then asked, "What are you talking about? What application?" I then told her about the big sign out front that said, "now enrolling, free registration til Jan," and again, she just stood there confused about what I was telling her. She finally handed me the paper after making ME feel like the idiot. I reluctantly filled the paperwork on the counter near the entrance when she told me to move because I was in the way of parents coming to pick up their children. (It was 1:30PM and there was NO ONE else there...) As I moved, all I could hear were cries and screaming adults. One teacher came out of her room with a group of what looked like 2 year olds, all crying. The teacher didn't even try to console any of the children. She continued raising her voice, telling the children to be quiet and keep their hands to themselves. One little girl in particular, broke my heart. She just stood there in the middle of the room, crying and crying for anyone to hold her, and no one even paid her no mind. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, the lady who so arrogantly handed me the application, walked over to the little girl, but not before turning the lights out, blowing her whistle, and screaming, "Everyone shut your mouths!!" I could not believe my eyes nor my ears! I looked at my son (remember, he's 2!) and he was MORTIFIED!!! I asked him if he wanted to come here and he looked at me and said, "No Mommy!" and hugged me as tight as he could!! I immediately put down my pen, grabbed my keys, and high tailed it out of there!! I cannot fathom why any parent would leave their child in those people's care. :(
