I am an employee

I normally don’t write reviews but I’m hoping that this will help families in making their child care choice. In my first week of starting at Building Blocks I noticed that several teachers had left, teachers that I had been told were at Building Blocks for years. This was the first red flag. I was greeted by parents of infants with very concerned looks on their faces, they had absolutely no idea that I was their childs new teacher. I had to introduce myself, give a little back story on my experience/education, and explain that I was their childs new teacher as these parents were cautiously handing me their six week to six month olds (several parents were VERY upset and had told me that I was the fifth infant teacher in just a few months). Putting your little one into child care is nerve-racking to begin with, no parent wants to hand their baby off to someone they don’t know. The fact that the owner had not informed these parents of the changes (a new teacher) was the second red flag. A few months went by, several other teachers left or were “let go”, MANY parents and their children left. Several rumors went around through staff and parents about scary/unsafe situations, I am not going to get into detail in this review but everything said matched up and was very much true. I stayed for many months and would have continued to stay due to the fact that I genuinely loved any child that came into my classroom, I knew that I was the one taking care of them and that they were safe with me. I was abruptly let go due to lack of communication between the owner, her husband, and their director. I had a serious family emergency and the owners husband was in one of his “moods” and decided to let me go because I spoke up about how horribly they treated their staff. Several parents left after I was let go when they realized the owner was lying about how things ended with me (they knew I would not just up and leave those babies) as well as several other staff members. I am not one to speak badly about any business or person but I can honestly say that I would never send my children to this place.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I am writing this review with a very heavy heart. Our family decided to leave Building Blocks at the end of October 2018 after being there since the beginning of 2016 when our oldest was an infant. We thought we would be there until all of our kids started kindergarten; sadly that's not the case. After the sale of Building Blocks in October 2017 everything seemed comfortable until May 2018 when we noticed some of our favorite teachers were gone. Teachers continued to leave weekly until only a few familiar teachers were in the building. Along with the major lack of communication from the new owners regarding the staff changes we became concerned with the things our trusted teachers were telling us about their treatment by the new owners and their concern for the kids. I want to mention these trusted teachers are not just individuals we knew through Building Blocks, they are after work hour baby sitters, friends and even more importantly part of our family. I am not going to discuss the details in this review but I can say what we were told was corroborated from numerous teachers and other parents as well as some first-hand observation. We noticed behavior changes in our oldest and health changes in our youngest that went away a few weeks after leaving Building Blocks so they were clearly affected by the atmosphere. The teachers were the reason we loved Building Blocks and why we decided to stay after the sale. However, without them we became very concerned for the wellbeing and safety of our kids, it was obvious to us this is not the place for our family.
