If you have an infant, I STRONGLY recommend you look elsewhere. I had my son on the wait list with Westside Christian Daycare about 5-6 months before he was due. They took a deposit from me, but lost my contact information. When I arrived to officially enroll him, they acted like they had no idea who I was and said they didn't know how to contact me to let me know their rates went up about $40/week since I gave them my deposit. This was a poor excuse to me, because I knew two of the teachers personally and it was clear they did not really try to find out who this person was on their waiting list that gave them money. We still enrolled him with no other option immediately available. We handed in all of the enrollment paperwork, including a feeding schedule and directions signed off by his pediatrician his first day. We were introduced to Laurie, but Tamra was out on vacation the first week he attended and it was clear that Laurie was short on help. Every day I picked him up, I could hear him screaming as soon as I walked into the building (and his classroom was 2 hallways away). He was usually unattended, and the teachers in charge were never there. There were several young ladies that filled in after the teachers left at 3/3:30.. but none seemed to know what was going on with his feeding/changing schedule after that time. His sheet was rarely filled out past that 3/3:30 point. By the time I picked him up at 5:30/5:45, his diaper was dirty and he was starved. I finally lost it when a new fill-in handed him to me one evening and told me "he's probably fussy because he's hungry." I asked why he wasn't fed and she said "I don't know. She didn't have anything for him." Since I had given consent and instruction to use the formula they provide as he demands it, this infuriated me. She opened the fridge and it was empty, then shrugged her shoulders. I asked to speak to the director, Tifani Harmon. The fill-ins told me she leaves early every day too but the assistant director was there still. I told my concerns to Ashley on the way out of the door, and she responded with, "I was just in there and he was fine. He ate at 3:30. Did he even finish his bottle?" (Like that matters- he is only 9 weeks old and eats every 2 hours) I told her I was really upset at the lack of care he seemed to be getting after 3:30. She said "I'm sorry you feel that way," and encouraged me to call Tifani. The next morning I did, and I STILL did not get an apology or any ownership over what happened- just excuses. She said they've been short staffed, that there was a lack of communication about his feeding schedule, and that they would try their best to improve the situation. When I dropped him off that morning, I told the Tamra and Laurie my concerns, and Tamra questioned feeding him on demand like she never read the original feeding plan. She acted surprised that I wanted him to be fed every time he cried for it. Tifani had no excuse for why the teachers in charge did not read over or fully understand his feeding plan from day 1. I tried to give them a second chance, but just 4 days later my son had the WORST diaper rash I've ever seen. His father complained this time to Tifani, who told him, "Just un-enroll him and we won't charge you the additional 2 week fine." She clearly had no intention of making things right with us or running her daycare properly. This is what infuriated us the most. When he threatened to report her to Department of Child Services, she said, "Go ahead and do what you feel is best. We do not feel we will be penalized for anything as we pass our inspections regularly." As most people know, churches are not subjected to the same inspections most daycare centers are. There is zero accountability from the top down at this daycare, so I would not trust them with your infant.
