To say I am disappointed is an understatement! This school parades itself as though it is God's gift to parents. The teachers are so rude! My family and I had just moved from out of state to Florida and based on goolge reviews and the proximity to our home, we decided to enroll our 11 month old at the school. That was the worst decision ever! They took him in the infant room and told us he would transition to the 1 year old. The teacher in the 1 year old room is so rude! I wonder if she has any compassion at all in her heart for the poor kids. These kids are human beings not some robots. She treats them like prisoners, shouting at them and what not. When the kids cry, she does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! She just allows them to cry. Even in my presence it was that bad. We decided their so called program was not a good fit for our family so we will take him out and look for a better daycare where the teachers are real humans and are sensitive to the kids. Please beware of this school if you love your kids but if you want your kids to be treated like military school, you can enroll them.
The best way to describe this school is "looks can be deceiving". It looks big and beautiful, but beware!!!! I would never recommend this school to anyone. My kids went to this school for 5 months and I had more issues than I can count. First of all, the turnover rate of "teachers" is high. Since my kids started in October, 5 teachers have started and left. And there have been several new ones. God only knows how long they will last. Also, the ones they have hired since, have no experience in childcare. If you look through their inspections in the past, you will discover that they have failed because their "teachers" are not certified.
Next, since my daughter has started, she's complained "I'm thirsty" every time I pick her up in the evening. Her sippy cup is always in the refrigerator and empty. That means that nobody offers it to her and they definitely don't refill it. Oh and I must add, they don't supply any water. You have to bring your own water bottles. But, even with your own supply, they don't care to refill kids' cups and hydrate them. But this is just the beginning...
When my son started, he was 3 months old. I was adamant on breastfeeding. The infant class "lost" my son's bottle. Nobody was ever able to tell me how it disappeared or where it went. How irresponsible is that???? I was furious! Let's fast-forward to now. I receive a call at 4:45 PM from the so-called "director". She tells me that my son's bottles were "sent home with another baby" and asks me if it's okay if they "give him a different formula from another child's bottle"!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!? She also tells me that my son was due to eat at 5:30. When I arrived to the school, I saw on his daily report that he last ate at 11:45! So please tell me what did he eat between 11:45 and 5:30 and why did she give me incorrect information?!?! By the way, he's on a 3-hour feeding schedule and is now on a special formula. I wish I would've requested to review the tape on the camera from that day. But I'm sure they would've make an excuse not to show me...
By the way, the "director", Crystal, is RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. In the 5 months my children have attended this school, she has never, not once, acknowledged my husband or I when we drop off or pick up our children. She sits in the front with a rude look on her face with a flat affect, pretending to be working. We have NEVER felt so unwelcome anywhere before. She's also the reason why so many wonderful teachers have gone and why so many new ones have started (friends of hers). Let's go back to the issue with my son's bottles...
I contacted the owner of the school and told him I wanted to speak to him in person. When I told him about the first time my son's breastmilk disappeared and second time they sent home his bottles with another child, he simply said "that's in the past now, I'm not concerned". I also suggested cubbies in the refrigerator with kids' names on them, to avoid future confusion with bottles. To this day, he hasn't done a thing about it!!! I also told him about Crystal being rude and how uncomfortable we felt and he said, "that's just her personality". I'm sorry, but if that's her personality, she should NOT be a director of anything, let alone a daycare with small children. She belongs behind a desk, in a cubicle. She's just plain DISRESPECTFUL.
The straw that broke the camel's back was when I went to pick up my daughter earlier this week. She was in the front and I didn't know why. When I went up there, she was with the other director, Heather, who said "we just noticed this on her arm". ANOTHER CHILD BIT HER and none of her teachers knew a thing about it!!!! My daughter had a deep, dark red bite mark, in which you can count every single tooth and even make out their shapes, and nobody knew about the incident. There's NO WAY that my daughter wasn't crying!!!!!! So what were they doing?!? And why weren't they watching????? I understand kids bite, but what I don't understand is why there was no responsibility, call, incident report, nothing. After I expressed how upset I was and told the director I'm removing them from the school this Friday, they sent home an incident report the DAY AFTER. Do they think we're stupid? You already told me you don't know anything about it, the teachers don't either, and all of a sudden it has a time of incident and supposedly "ice" was placed on her arm? Ridiculous...save me the BS. And let's mention the fact that my husband asked about the tape and Heather told him that you can't see that the teacher put the ice on her arm because it wasn't in view on the camera!!!!!!!!
Aside from that, there are other small complaints. But I think this is enough for anyone to know that this school is bologna. When you tour the school, ask them about how long each teacher has been there, what experience they have, check the garbage cans inside the classrooms (they're absolutely FILTHY), and meet with the fake director (Crystal).
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
BEWARE OF THIS DAY CARE. I had my child attend this school after having a great tour. The first day was fine but then after that all the teachers changed their attitudes. If you request simple routines to make your child easier for the teachers, the teachers will give you bad attitudes. They do not care about a parents simple request. Also, times I have passed by to visit, they have your children crying where the camera is not visible. I have come into the classroom where they are ignoring the children and are too busy talking bad about how some of children are really spoiled by their parents.I spoke up and asked why they were ignoring the children crying. This is a very poor school. The director Heather is an idiot. She plays the role of caring but talks bad about parents when they leave. Do not take your child to this day care unless they can speak and tell you what is really wrong.
I DO NOT recommend University Station Academy in Davie, FL. I had to withdraw my child’s attendance there after a month; I did not feel the love or care for my family. Upon viewing through their webcam system, I did not see the proposed curriculum of activities being utilized and teachers’ interaction with the children. Also, my child was hurt by another child and I do not feel that the directors, Betty or Heather, handled the situation appropriately. After the incident it just seemed like one bad thing after another. I was very dissatisfied and unhappy with University Station Academy.
WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL!
This school was great when our 2 children first started, which was September '09. After they changed School Directors, the place went downhill quickly. We pulled them out in June '11 because it had become so disorganized and the turnover of teachers was out of control. I understand it's a business but it's ALSO A SCHOOL!!! Don't forget these are young children and they get comfortable with teachers. They don't like seeing a new teacher every other month. Also, as a parent, when we pick up our children and don't recognize anyone and most of them are too young to have any credentials, it becomes borderline scary.
I'm absolutely shocked at how quickly this place deteriorated because when Rhonda was there, it was perfect. All of the good teachers were either fired or let go for unknown reasons and replaced with friends of the new Director who have absolutely ZERO credentials. Look at the track record: You don't have 25-30 teachers leave in 1 school year and ESPECIALLY at a daycare! This isn't McDonald's. We're talking about children here. The only good people at that school when we left were Miss Juanita (AMAZING!), Miss Jodi, Miss Mishka, Miss Emma and Heather (ASST. DIRECTOR). If they want to make things right, put Heather in charge!
Seriously, I have no idea if the owners are aware of the chaos at their school. Pretty soon, it will be too late and the school will be shut down because of complete incompetence. Don't be surprised to see them on the news with either a lawsuit, a child getting seriously hurt, etc. They are destined for failure and make sure the owners and everyone knows "we told you so."
I think 90% of the kids our children went to school left to go to other daycares. The parents were just disgusted at what was going on and the SCHOOL DIRECTOR turning a blind eye at everything. I have a feeling if someone did some digging into her character, they would find MAJOR flaws. She needs to be replaced. Immediately.
Do your homework before even considering this school. It might be a few dollars cheaper than a daycare down the road but trust us, as parents, it's worth spending the extra money.
