It is worthwhile to include play in the curriculum not only because each standard can be met through play but because play makes learning authentic and valid to children. To fully incorporate a curriculum that promotes play, it is necessary to make daily observations through documentation, photographs, and video. These anecdotes can be put into a child’s portfolio to prove that learning is taking place through play. Goals are then created for individuals and children as a group to determine curriculum planning and scaffolding tools are used to help children move along in their development.
