Description: At Tot Spot, the school believes that each child is a special, unique person, valued for his or her own worth, growing at his or her own pace. Children learn through active involvement and play (their work). Tot Spot will provide opportunities for learning using the following areas: science, literature, language arts, math, art, music, and dramatic play. Children represent their knowledge in a variety of ways. The school recognizes the social nature of learning and the essential role of language in expressing thought, communication and learning. The teaching staff will strive to create a nurturing environment where children can learn to think, solve problems and become responsible for their actions. Tot Spot believes in the partnership between teachers and parents is essential to the success of their children's education. To foster this partnership, parents are welcomed and encouraged to observe and participate the Tot Spot Program. Tot Spot Community Preschool Program has certified teaching staff that is dedicated to helping the child reach his or her fullest potential. Tot Spot is licensed through the Michigan Department of Human Services and follows the National Association for the Education of Young Children program standards for developmentally appropriate practice.
