Description:
Early childhood is the most important stage of development when the foundation for lifelong learning is created. It is a time of growing self-awareness and intense exploration of the world around us. It is a time when essential neurological pathways are created that will determine not only our capacity to survive, but to grow into healthy, able, creative and productive individuals. From birth, young children are fully engaged in learning. They respond to touch, movement and sounds before they recognize speech. They recognize and explore sounds before they speak. They scribble and draw pictures before they form letters. They sing and dance and act out stories before they learn to read.
At Kay School we celebrate children’s capacity to learn, their excitement about learning and their natural ability to do so through exploration and play. It is our mission to create and nurture an environment for learning that will help children grow to become academically successful and socially adept; active and curious learners; aware of their capacity to imagine and create; caring of themselves, fellow students, and their environment; strong innovators and skilled problem-solvers. Early childhood is when the foundation for learning is formed. Our curriculum is interactive, with content that is developmentally appropriate and guided by the children’s interests.
Each day children engage in projects and activities that promote language development, mathematical skills, scientific observation and exploration, and artistic expression. Outdoor play and indoor dramatic play and block building are integral parts of the day. As the children interact with adults and each other, they are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings, to problem solve, to take turns, to negotiate, to resolve conflict peacefully and to act on their creative expression. Children learn in a joyful environment that nurtures learning, builds self-confidence, encourages exploration and creative expression, and stimulates a lifelong love for learning.
Our programs include full-day Preschool, Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. An extended Before and After School Program is provided for these and for older school-age children. Parent-child classes are also offered for parents with children between the ages of 9 months and 2.5 years. In July and August, we also offer an exciting and fun-filled Summer Program. My daughter has attended Kay School since she was 2.5 years old. For the past two years she has received extraordinary care and attention. Even with all the pandemic madness, Kay School employees have been reliable, responsible, and caring. I can honestly say I LOVE KAY SCHOOL! I love their "learning is fun" philosophy and my daughter has grown and blossomed in their care.
My daughter has been attending pre-k class from a little over four months, the sweet and gentle teachers in this class are highly trained and experienced in how to guide and support children, they are helping my daughter to develop qualities as being independent, having self-confidence, sharing and caring for others and academically to be ready for kindergarten next fall.I feel comfortable knowing that my girl is being left in a safe place where she'll be take care with much love. and even more to known that SHE IS HAPPY HERE. I just would like that the building had better maintenance this is the only thing that keeps me from giving them a rating of 5.
