Not very happy mom 2021-01-28 15:07:06

When I was a new parent to the school I was very happy. Everything was going well I was planning on letting my two kids finish vpk in this school .BUT! Before they reopened the school during the pandemic all parents had a zoom conference where we were told that they were going to have kids doing activities on the exterior as much as possible so that they would breathe clean air. I started noticing that my daughter was going to sleep very very late at night which was not usual. I started to ask her everyday if she went to the playground.... her answer was always “No”. This continued for about 2 months. Kids would be put to sleep for 2 hours and would never go to the playground. This was the reason.
When I expressed my concern to the director I was simply told that it was not a requirement to take the children to the playground. I was not very happy with that answer, since I was not given any options. And I was never even informed that they were not taking them outside at all. After I tried to understand better this situation. I tried to speak to Maureen because miss rosy is not very good listening. I would never be able to speak to the director because she was busy. I could only speak to her through message, (not very profesional). Rosy told me that some parents didn’t want their children to go outside because they didn’t want the kids to get sick, because of the “cold”. And come on this is Miami you put a sweater on , and by mid day there’s no more cold. So to me this were all bad excuses. Plus because “some parents said they don’t want their children to go out”, all children have to suffer the consequences, I don’t think this is fair. VPK CURRICULUM SAYS CHILDREN MUST HAVE AT LEAST 30-45 minutes of OUTSIDE PLAY EVERYDAY. And for many kids 8 or more hours , 5 days a week inside 4 walls breathing the same recycled air is not very reasonable and completely the opposite of what we were told on the zoom conference. What this causes is that children get sicker, bored and annoyed not making school as safe and fun as it should be.
The cherry on the cake was that my daughter told me that a boy was kicking her. And being rude to her.
I also told this to rosy, and her answer was that my daughter was big enough and that she should be able to defend herself....I would have never expected an answer like this. I was extremely disappointed and that same day I took my children out of that school.

It is not the worst but is not a good one either, just like another day care in town.

I have never be notified of the menu and snacks. I do not know about other parents mentioning "menu", to me they never say anything. They should display that information some way. My child says always that eat cookies and chicken nuggets.

However, I like the teachers, they are nice.

The school is located on the property of the church but not affiliated with the church. When it's pouring rain, the administrators literally put on rain boots and help escort the children to the parents car with big umbrellas. This act of kindness and gesture, out of many is the reason why I enrolled my 3 month girl...now 4 years old to this center.

This school is a decent school. I would not say that it is amazing.  If you are not the parent that registers the child they don't tell you anything and say that the registering parent has to approve everything including the other parent receiving school related information.  They are difficult to work with if you are divorced, seperated, or never married.  Other wise the school is not ok.  Not the best school but deffinately not the worst.

This childcare/preschool provider is awesome! I have 4 children here and love the time they spend with each child.

Infant care: My babies were loved and nurtured. They kept close track of food given, activities played, soiled diapers and all of the standard things but more importantly the women taking care of them love babies and it's obvious that they have a genuine enjoyment with spending time with them. My daughter wouldn't go to anyone other than myself  until coming here. Granted it took a few weeks but they won her heart! 6 months later she's still happy. Ms Rosy spent extra time with my son from the infant area even taking him out to practice walking around the court yard. I do feel that besides having a safe and clean enviroment for my babies (2 of them) they spent extra loving time and attention for their particular needs.

1 year old room: Each my children mentioned above has moved onto the 1 year old room where I'm always amazed that the teachers are down on the ground with them interacting face to face. They are always smiling and laughing, reading books and playing. I love walking up to the door to see them dancing and singing to music...a whole class of 1 year olds!

Toddler class: My other 2 kids are in the toddler class and I can not say enough good things about the teacher Ms. Nancy. She knows ever detail about each child and conducts a very structured, clean, safe and fun classroom. My 2 1/2 year olds can recognize each letter of the alphabet, count at least 1-10, and amoung many other things have been potty trained! They are speaking mostly english (as we are an english speaking household) but also some spanish!!!(Which i think is essential) They follow directions in spanish and are speaking a little as well which I love! Yesterday when I went to pick them up Ms Nancy was sitting in a chair with 2 other children leaning on her lap, one with their arm around her should, while playing, she was directing activity at the table for the whole class and my kids (before leaving) ran up to hug her all on thier own. It warms my heart to see that they are given love during the times when I have to be at school. I feel that they recieve structure and a lot of love here!

From this review you can see that I have 4 small children and after trying other alternatives for childcare it was a HUGE releif coming to The Village! They provide me with a peice of mind. Ms Rosy who works hand in hand with the Director finds time each day to go into each classroom and work with the child. This leads me to beleive that my kids are not always subject to minimum ratio requirements for staff. They kids have a great repore with her and she seems to really love it.

I cannot speak from any personal experience about the other classrooms/teachers other than those that i have mentioned but as for the facility it is great.

Security: Located on a church campus. No one can enter the premise without going through the main building where the director sits at all times, othewise the facility is fenced and all gates locked.

Food: a menu is provided that meets all standards set by the state. Snacks are provided. It is a huge relief not to have to prepare meals and an extra expense off my list. If I did have one possible con regarding this place it might be the food since i prefer a very wholesome and non-processed diet however the food is provided based on a well balanced meal plan. Besides, the kids like it and seem to eat well while at school.

Availability: They try to be open most days except major holidays which is wonderful for parents who have to work on school holidays. They are open early and late for people with flucuating hours. Most importantly they are acoomodating for specific needs of individual families.

This facility goes above and beyond to ensure each child is happy! I am greatful.
