I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My child attended the Children's House for a couple of years. In hind sight, I wish I had taken the time to investigate further, and had trusted my gut before I let so much time pass. I hope that this real review will not be taken lightly, and that you to learn from my mistake.
On the surface, it's cute, clean, and the curriculum sold sounds amazing. The reality? You're paying for a cute, clean building that's masking the vast amount of internal problems. First off, the curriculum that they sell you on isn't what is taught. There's nothing Montessori about this school. Did my child learn? I'm not going to lie -- she did. Did she learn anything different or more than she would have at another center? Probably not. Did she enjoy her learning experience? Most certainly not. She dreaded every single day of attendance. This school is being run as a for-profit business... not a child-loving, fun learning environment. From the top down, the school is full of cruel and callous employees. They yell at the children constantly, they're demeaning, and borderline - if not completely - verbally & emotionally abusive. While I promise you, you'll be blown away by it's cuteness & cleanliness, you need to realize just what it is – they’ve thrown lipstick on a pig. A bunch of old sows, actually. My advice? Keep moving. I wish I had.

I have toured this provider's facility, but have not used its services

My husband and I toured 4 daycares and were super impressed by the cleanliness and curriculum of this place. Seemed like a great Montessori blend and we felt like it was going to be an awesome fit! My child was due August 11, and we gave them a deposit and "enrolled" him on March 15. I told them at that time - and the lady wrote it down - that I would take 12 weeks off with my baby before I returned to work. They told me no problem and to just call them when he was born to determine his start date.

I did exactly that. I called them 1 week after he was born, told them my return to work date of 11/7 (he was born 3 days after his due date, so he wouldn't be starting daycare any EARLIER than expected), and they told me that they wouldn't have any room for him until 12/19! They also said, "We have to make sure that another child is walking before then, so the very earliest we could get him in is the 19. If that child isn't walking, we'll have to push the date back further."

I explained to the lady on the phone that this was going to give me 6 WEEKS without childcare and she asked me if I could get help from family or friends until then. Ridiculous! I don't have family nearby to help with childcare (if I did, I wouldn't be enrolling him in daycare) and all of my friends work during the day, too.

When I asked for my $75 deposit back because they didn't hold his spot, they basically scoffed at me and said tough luck. I'm completely appalled. Don't enroll your child here - they may make you wait on another child's development so your kid can start daycare, and you'll be stuck scrambling to find a place (as if the early weeks after having a baby aren't stressful enough as it is). Totally let down and disappointed. I want my $75 back.

I have used this provider for less than 6 months

Let me just summarize by saying that Children's House in Florence is full of Frauds and Staff Members who are discriminating and care a lot more for your money than your child.
If you really truly care about you child, please seek a different place. There are a lot of other places where you child will be well taken care of and will not be Discriminated.
Katie Sye (Director) is the most apathetic person I came to contact with in a childcare and she would say anything to get you child enrolled in the daycare and eventually show her true color.
The place has a great outlook, but it's nothing but full of scammers.

Great staff. Very clean and welcoming! My son has learned so much for their curriculum. Ignore the 1 star rating. Not sure why you would listen to a review from a username of Madmomma. YIKES!

The Children’s House is all smoke & mirrors! Don’t be deceived. As a new mom, I was blown away by the building, classrooms and 50’s diner themed lunchroom! However, just because it is a newer facility with new things inside and lots of subject specific rooms does not mean it’s the best place for your child. They pride themselves in the fact that the lead teachers have college degrees, however most of the teachers are very young so while they may have a degree, some have very little daycare experience. On a side note, all the rooms have solid doors and no windows so you can’t ever see what is going on in the classrooms. Looking back, I personally do not feel that the director or assistant director have the necessary experience to be in their positions. Being a teacher at another daycare does not mean you have the expertise and know-how to run a daycare. I tried to meet with either/both of them on several occasions and they refused to meet with me and discuss issues that were relevant to my son being there. The option I was given was to email the director and she would then forward on my email to the owner, then would communicate what the owner said back to me. Who does this? If you ever want/need to speak with the owner, forget about it! She is some woman you will never meet, who will not email you, you can’t have her email address, she will not call you, etc. but dictates messages to the director to relay to you. It seems like she’s strictly an owner and there to collect her money, which is what it is. My son was labeled a “biter” at 9 ½ months old, before he even learned to crawl! I’m not sure what they teachers were doing when my child was biting all the other babies, if he couldn’t even crawl… but he was apparently a nuisance. Ask any pediatrician and they will tell you that sometimes children who are teething “bite” and that it is a very normal behavior in this age range. On a side note, my son was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and required open heart surgery at 6 months of age to repair the defects of his heart. Everyone involved was aware of our son’s medical history. We have never required or asked that he received special treatment because of this… However, when you feel like you’re being shown your way to the door, it’s hard not to feel like you are being discriminated against for having a child with a medical condition or deemed a liability to the owner of the daycare. We only stayed at The Children’s House for about 3 (stressful) months. Since then, we’ve moved on to a different daycare we feel truly cares for and nurtures our child and have had a much happier, more pleasant experience.
