We assigned new roles in the classroom and rules of engaging with children were reiterated. Facility person one was warned she must follow our positive discipline approach. On going monitoring is happening now during a probationary period of 3 months. Under no circumstances will facility person #1 or any staff single out a child, remove clothing or shame. The positive discipline approach is posted around the room. I as director have been following up with specialists and co teachers in the classroom to ensure all actions from facility person #1 is developmentally appropriate and positive. I spoke with Staff Person #1 to clarify rules, regulations and expectations discipline in our classrooms. Explained o=thoroughly our use of a Positive Discipline Approach. I suspended Staff person #1 for a day with no pay. The staff person was instructed to watch all seven of the positive discipline modules we use to ensure a complete understanding of our philosophical and hands on approach to positive discipline strategies. Reiterated to staff person #1 and all staff members that no staff member, under any circumstances , will use arms, legs, straps or any other objects to restrain any child in our program. Staff person #1 denies restraining the child. I do interview the teaching team periodically to make sure all is well, and conduct unannounced observations routinely.
