I gave much thought into writing this review. I felt it was important for other parents to know the experience my child received for the short time he was at this daycare. My first impression after meeting the mother/owner and daughter was good, however after just one week things changed. It was explained there would be a two week trial period for the children to adjust to their new surroundings, which is very understandable, but just one week into my child being at this day care. The daughter began to inform us she had concerns my son could be demonstrating signs of Autism. The daughter stated, "He may not be a good fit for my daycare." My son is 2 1/2 years old, so of course this was very upsetting. He's attend day care since he was 8 weeks old and never have a heard these type of comments. We took our son to our family pediatrician. Our pediatrician informed us during his visit no concerns of Autism were present. She stated, children do not tend to develop these signs until early elementary years. The doctor did not understand why these comments were being said if she has the education she claims to have. We informed the daycare of this, but everyday we would go up our child she would have him sitting alone in a chair while she sat on her phone. I was then contacted by other individual who had her two boys at this daycare. She informed me one day on her way to drop off her boys her oldest told her he did not want to go, because they were mean to him. She said he did this several times, crying and refusing to go into the daycare. She just never really paid a lot of attention. This concerned her, so one day she stayed while the daughter took her boys outside to the play yard. Her oldest was still very much upset and did not want his mother to leave. The daughter was unaware she stayed behind talking with Jenni just to be sure her oldest was ok. It was then she heard the daughter while standing at the back door close to the play yard say to her oldest. "Are you going to be a big ball baby and cry all day." The daughter was unaware she was heard saying this cruel comment to the child. The mother addressed this behavior with both the daughter and the owner. She informed them her children would no longer be attending her daycare due to the emotional abuse her son was receiving. The thought of other children at the daycare experiencing this form of emotional abuse is very disturbing. She informed me she was so glad she stayed behind to see why her oldest was making the comments, "they were mean to him." Just a heads up to the parents out there. Be aware when your children are saying things about their care providers.
So to make a long story short, after hearing this news we were concern. After one more week of our son attending the daughter continued to make her comments, which was very upsetting. It was like she was discriminating against children who may have learning issues or disabilities. And, if this was the case did we really want someone like this caring for our child. It was then we decided Terri's Playhouse was not all they said it would be. We removed our son. He has settle in at his new daycare nicely with no issues.
For parents do not let your children be verbally and emotional abuse by this provider. Children are such precious angels and should be treated as such.
Blessings!!
