Oh where do I begin!! I thought this school is to help working single moms like me!! But obviously not since they turned me down saying i am not considered a low income!! I made 20 thousand dollar last year!! And they turned me down! Said you have to make 16 thousand or less !! That's a joke
The only good thing about this school is that it made my child get along with other kids and start talking better but everything else to me was really bad, the service, the teacher, the bus driver, the driver assistant. They don't really teach anything to the kids, they mostly let kids play & draw by their own and sometimes teach them the alphabets. Bus is always LATE and if it ever gets on time, they never wait and they have a bad attitude!! I will never suggest this school to anyone.
My son was at Susan Grey for the first 4 months of the school year. It was his first time in school or similar environment.
He had a hard time adjusting to the new environment, but the teacher and other staff were great with him.
In that short amount of time we saw huge changes in him. He started to talk better (he started with a speech delay), and his behavior and social interactions all improved dramatically.
His teacher, Miss Miranda, was wonderful. She really deserves praise. The whole atmosphere is great. Other staff who weren't his teacher always greeted him and his little sister (not a student) by name. Everyone seems to care and to enjoy working there. It is a place I felt my son was cared about and got to learn while still enjoying childhood. I also felt it was a great place for kids to learn diversity.
I was incredibly sad that we had to move. The preschool we got into later was not even close to comparing. I think that they have a great model for what preK should be and wish more schools would follow it.
I love Susan Grey Head Start. I have 2 children enrolled there and they are 3 and 4 years old. They have learned so much stuff so fast. They have only been there for 3 1/2 months now and they are as smart as a 1st grader. It is an amazing place. My 3 year old can tell me where the front of the book is, back of the book, title page and the spine of the book. My 4 year old can count to 70 with no problems. I know they are going to be ready for Kindergarten when the time comes. They have amazing teachers and staff there. Another thing I love about this school is that it has good security. To know that no one else will try to pick up your children. The teachers check your ID to make sure you are on the pick up list. I rate this school 5 for exellent. It is the best decision I have made so far for my children.
