About the Provider

Description: Educational excellence, unwavering dedication and outstanding child care. Those are the values that Stepping Stones Childcare Learning Center, Inc. stands for. The demand for daycare facilities continue to grow day by day, but all too often, institutions are only able to focus on either allowing the child to enjoy their childhood and develop naturally or forcing the child to focus only on mental development in order to achieve high test scores later on in life. Stepping Stones Childcare Learning Center, Inc. is different. The center promotes physical activities in large open areas and a wide variety of educational games, but we also have a small library, computer center and various arts and crafts for your child to unleash his or her full creative and intellectual potential. The goal is to promote every child's

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

If I could rate no stars I would......After being with stepping stones for approx 5 years and always loving it and everything it offered to my 4 kids who attended there.....we encountered a situation in which one of our kids was abused by staff in the facility. About a month prior to witnessing the abuse my kids started having behaviors at daycare which was unlike anything seen anywhere else. Once the abuse was caught (clinical psychologists have said this was not a one time incident due to their clinical findings and how my child thought it was normal and ok and this would not happen unless the abuse was repeated over time). Not even one month after the abuse my kids were placed on behavior plans and then forced to switch to their other location. I was told that as long as I was working on finding my girls help they would be able to remain in their care (mind you after abuse and I thought it was taken care of in an appropriate manner and the staff terminated....I was afraid to trust a new place after all this), yet every time I asked what they were doing to help I was told directly from the owner that it was my responsibility and hat of their other teachers at preschool to come into the daycare and provide suggestions which is strange since they are trained to provide care and shouldn’t necessarily need help from our own personal outside sources but yet still they helped. Offered suggestions, gave material (books, calm down bottles etc which were hardly ever documented as being used). Then came the constant phone calls and being sent home several times a week and almost losing my job. Then I got the results of the abuse thru the state of my DHS Licensing division and they found substantial evidence of abuse. I approached stepping stones about this on March 22 then on he 23rd they were sent home again. My one child was not there until shortly after 11 and laid down for nap at 12:30. There was an observer there to try to help my kids from 10:30-12:30 and she has documented that there was NOT ONE behavior noted. Yet at 12:41 we were callled to pick them up due to behaviors, it takes 9 marks in book from what they told me to be sent home and they have procedures for every mark that they are supposed to follow. Curious how this is possible in 11 minutes.
Then when picked up they decided to terminate all my kids. Upon further looking into stuff there were many days of being sent home where their daily sheets reflected no behaviors and all smileys......and upon researching and looking back further I would pay extra to have them there more than 10 hours during busy seasons at work and Lynn statues say if a child is in care 10 hours or more they HAVE to provide 2 meals and 2 snacks when in fact my kids were never offered a 2nd snack. Seems like they are hiding things to me. We have felt discriminated and retaliated against and as much as we loved this place for so long and had been a long time family, to ultimately be treated the way we were in the end speaks volumes of how little they truly care. In my opinion they should have been helping my daughter as she was abused in their care yet instead they punished her and her siblings.
Not to mention the owner told me over and over how I basically refused to build a relationship with the new staff yet their main teacher rarely even looked up and acknowledged us in the morning. I am so glad we found a new daycare who has patience and genuinely cares for my kids and since moving them we have hardly had any behaviors.........that says something! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and would actually recommend people stay far away! We had too many injuries that were odd that we should have paid closer attention to.........and although I had signed a release upon start dates for them to be able to use my kids photographs and so on they took it upon themselves 1 or 2 days after my daughter was abused to traumatize her more and take their own photos without my consent including her arms and pulling her pants down to take pictures of her legs as well. COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE!
