About the Provider

Description:

Stepping Stones Childcare offers activities that are age appropriate so children can gain the confidence the that they need to develop and learn. We do not believe in "timeout" but we do believe that some children may need a quiet place under supervision by staff to regroup and think about what they are feeling. A walk or suggesting a different activity are ways to help a child refocus. Our teachers and children will spend as much time as possible incorporating our structured activities outdoors when the weather permits us to. Children will be able to take a nature walk and have lunch on our picnic tables and just get some exercise and fresh air. Our center sits on 2 acres of wooded and grassed area making it a perfect place to appreciate nature.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My family has been using this daycare from the day they opened. They are so transparent and honest with their parents. If they make a mistake they are the first to come forward with , I am so sorry I forgot to tell you , or I am sorry I did not know you wanted me to do that.

I find the other reviews very strange because our experience with Stepping Stones has been amazing, especially during this pandemic. They are always acting on the side of caution and never taking chances with the safety and health of the children and their staff. They made the center a shoeless center, staff are wearing masks instead and outside and they don't even merge our children at the end of the night when they are the last ones at the center. I am extremely grateful for all they do because their job is not easy and has become even more complicated by this pandemic. When we drop off the our kids we are always greeted with a smile. Sometimes I think they follow some of the policies and procedures to far but I always say when I leave there at least I know they are being proactive. Thank you to all the Stepping Stones Staff for being there for our family and providing the best care you can during theses unpredictable times.

This facility does not utilize social distancing of any kind, or face masks for children over the age of two, as required by NY health department guidelines.
There was a mixing of age groups in classrooms and in the outdoor play areas, which is considered a daycare violation.
Teacher had a mask hanging below her nose in her classroom during a class meeting. Children 3-4 years of age all sitting on a mat with no social distancing and no masks.
Toddler room had similar situation, except the assistant wore a mask, the teacher did not.
There were mixed age groups in this group, also a violation.
Infant teacher sitting in chair holding on infant and reading her phone, with loud “sleep time” music blaring in the darkened room.
Playtime out in front had mixed age groups (again) and no fencing in front. Facility located on a cul de sac with other businesses close by.
Another play area to the side of the facility is gated but has inappropriate structures for toddlers, who were present and standing on them.
