Poor manangement & poor staff .Some of the daycare providers were on the lazy side when it came to watching the children & not assisting the children (Preschool age 3-4 yrs old ) wash there hands from after playing outside. My son always had dirty hands & nails when i arrived to pick him up from that daycare . i told a few of the women there to please make sure that my son had his hands washed when they were done from playing outside but it NEVER happened . That is part of all the womens job there but it seemed as if they didn't care & the daycare could've been cleaner too .I wouldn't ever enroll my child there again because i had other incidents happen there too !
My children have been going to Step by Step for close to a year now, and I have not had any experiences I would consider bad nor negative. They are a very good daycare center, and have very nice employees that my children seem to really love.
They are a smaller facility, but it is much like taking your children to another persons home while they are there.
Their hours/days of operation were initially what drew me to them... as they are the only long running daycare in the area.
My oldest son loves going, has plenty of friends, learns and they give homework one to two times a week for pre-schoolers.
My youngest gets a lot of attention and is taken well care of (he's just a baby).
While some of the staff, I have never really spoken to... most of the staff are friendly, courteous, and really care about the children they're taking care of.
My ONLY complaints about the facility is, I wish they had two phone lines... with one dedicated to the JFS machine that you have to swipe with. If they had a line dedicated for that, it wouldn't cause some parents to be late for work/school/appointments when someone is in the building on the phone. I have been late many times, because you have to give them your time slip for EACH child... and can't leave until you give it to them. Very frustrating!
I also wish they would wipe the noses of the children in the younger rooms... because they're all constantly dripping... Daycares are cesspools, and I wish they were a little more proactive in stopping the spreading of germs.
If you have an issue, just tell them! I was having problems with being told about the supply of items being low... I just told them and it was fixed! I now know ahead of time, like I asked.
My oldest went to a very nice Kindercare in a better part of Columbus, Ohio... They are in no way comparable to Kindercare but even expensive and more "facility" style daycares have issues. My son was potty training when he went to Kindercare and I would constantly get back a pair of wet jeans in a bag and not be told they left the stool in the underwear... so when I'd throw them in the washer the entire load would be ruined! I had so many issues with the staff not wanting to properly change my son or properly empty his underwear when he did have an accident. It was VERY frustrating!
So, just because on person posts they had a negative experience... doesn't mean you will have a good experience at EVERY daycare...
I have also NEVER felt my children weren't being taken care of properly! My kids are all smiles, are fed, and happy!
They are terrrible. long hours doesnt mean anything if your child(ren) arent being taken care of properly
