About the Provider

Description: Hi my name is Corinne Carr, I own and operate Special Blessing's Child Care, a state licensed, nationally accredited child care facility located in Emporia, Kansas. I am married to Monte Carr and am a mother of two grown children. I started my Licensed Child Care Business in 1992. The most important thing to me about my Family Child Care business is to provide "Quality" care. This means that I love and nurture the children in my home environment so they feel like a part of our family. Quality child care means "Teamwork" between provider and families. Special Blessing's Child Care provides a safe and healthy environment, gives children the opportunity for learning experiences and offers activities using large and small motor skills. I provide positive ways to support each child’s social and emotional growth and development. I provide opportunities for each child to enhance their skills. These opportunities are developmentally appropriate and meet each child's individual and unique needs. I am committed to maintaining professionalism and managing an effective program. I strive to always be "Flexible" to meet the daily needs of the children and families at Special Blessing's Child Care. I feel my program is like a "Big Family". Each child has a special place in my heart. I use the Creative Curriculum which builds upon the child's interests. The Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive early childhood educational system that emphasizes a practical, easy to understand approach to working with children. It promotes the use of interest areas as a way of providing experiences that promote social emotional, physical, oral language and cognitive development. I participate in continuing education classes in the Early Childhood field. I was honored to receive "Provider of the Year in 2000" from "F.C.C.O, a Family Child Care Organization" in Lyon County. I received my CDA, Child Development Associate Credential in July of 2007 from the Council for Professional Recognition. I have achieved Accredited Family Child Care Business certificate through the National Association Family Child Care in 2009 by meeting high quality standards and my Special Blessing's Child Care certificate stands current. I graduated in May 2011 from Butler County Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. In 2010-2011, I was chosen to attend BELIEF " Building Excellent Leaders Influencing Early Foundations" an Early Childhood Leadership Institute. In 2012-2014 I took on Vice Presidency with our local Family Child Care Organization "P.L.A.Y". (Partnership in Learning Advocacy of Young Children) I have served on the board of Child Care Providers Coalition of Kansas since 2008. My current position is Advocacy, mailbox and newsletter editor. On September of 2013, I became President of "Child Care Providers Coalition of Kansas," I am looking forward to this new journey. In August 2012 our "Outdoor Adventures" Classroom became certified through Nature Explore. We received our 3rd Year re-certification in August 2014. Nature Explore is a collaborative project of the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation. We have become a part of a growing national network of organizations that have created an effective outdoor learning environment for children. In 2014 we became a Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation by providing food, water, cover & a place for wildlife to raise their young. On May 2014, I was appointed by NAFCC, The National Association for Family Child Care, Region 12 Representative (Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska). I am excited for this journey to sharpen my leadership skills and joining the NAFCC family to be a support for Family Child Care Providers across the nation. In 2015 I was recognized as an Emerging Leader by “Exchange Magazine”. In 2015 I started serving on the Child Care Licensing Systems Improvement Team that serves in an advisory capacity to the KDHE Child Care Licensing Program. The Team focuses on efforts that support families and provide protections to children in regulated child care settings. January 2016 began to serve on the TEACH & WAGES$ Advisory Council. September of 2016, began to serve on the Quality Links Work Group Team & the Peer Monitoring Work Group. Quality Links will help with improvement, development,& implementation. Which helps define quality for early childhood programs and what the essential building blocks are for high-quality early care and education system.
