I have used this provider for less than 6 months

My two sons aged 1 and 2 were at RA for approximately 6 months. In that time, we saw a severe decline of behavior especially from our older son. When we expressed concern with the owner Skye, she responded with promises of "working with our son" that were never fulfilled. Here we thought our son was the issue and were continually made to believe he was the issue. This was not the case. Behavior challenges continued to occur with him, and we brought this to Skye's attention. We were then sent a blanket email where approximately 6 other families were cc'd stating the State came in to do an investigation. Things didn't add up. I watched the State website closely and a report was published (see: the complaint closure from Nov. 16th https://families.decal.ga.gov/ChildCare/detail/51860)
Verbiage from the actual report:
It was determined based on investigative findings that a staff member in the three and four-year old classroom handled a three-year-old child in care aggressively when they pulled on the child's arm, forced
the child into a chair, and pointed their finger in the child’s face while using a harsh tone of voice as a form of
discipline. Additionally, the staff member was observed to push a different three-year-old child on the back of
the head as a form of discipline.
When I read this, I immediately contacted Skye-TWO WEEKS had passed. And in TWO WEEKS, Skye never contacted us to say that our son was the subject of a state investigation. In fact, the reason that the State was called in, was because another parent overheard harsh tones being used with the children several times and filed a compliant. When the video was reviewed (not made available to the parents), this was an incidental finding. Upon meeting with Skye, she stated that "well it wasn't a big deal, it was more of a re direction than anything". And when I inquired as to why we weren't immediately notified of the findings, and I had to play detective and put this all together, Skye stated "because I didn't have all the facts and I was putting things together". What would have been appropriate was to immediately notify us of this finding, and let us know that you were still looking into things, and would keep us informed. When I went up to the classroom to get our oldest son, all I saw were kids that were on pins and needles, sad, and honestly lifeless.
Our youngest son continually came home with bite marks where out of us going to 5 daycares in 4 states, was the first time we had never been notified. The last one was the last straw-yes, kids bite, but this was green and yellow. There was NO WAY our youngest son didn't cry. When we inquired on it, there was no answer, and a promise of a follow up (which in true fashion, never occurred). The State came in and investigated finding again that the children were left unattended.
If you review the State's website you will find that the average staff seems to be there for all of a month or two before they move on. This is a revolving door. There is no consistency with staff longevity, and a plethora of very questionable actions by the owner, all to which are continually explained by "God". You don't' get to prey on people's faith by using the cloak of God.
We filed a information act request and obtained all investigation documents including signed statements from staff. Clearly the second staff member covered for the one that was seen in the video handling my son.
We were able to find a new place temporarily before moving back to our home state, and it was life changing. Our kids have personality, are happy, engaging and exactly what you would expect from young kids.
I am happy to share further information with you (kellylaia81@gmail.com). Childcare might be hard to find, but in no circumstances is it worth taking your children to Remington Academy.
