While on the surface this school may seem fine, the way this school communicates and disciples is very sub par. The only exception is the assistant teacher is wonderful, but it is unfortunate that she is subjected to this type of teaching.
We were asked to leave the school after 9 months in our first and only parent teacher conference; there was no progressive communication or warning of this misfortune. The teacher was raging with anger and told us we had only 3 short weeks to find another school.
The school used only one method of disciple and has not continued any education. There are the favorite students who are personal friends’ children of the teacher and they receive special treatment, while other students are ignored; in fact our son brought home a 6 month art project with other students names on it that were crossed out, and his name was just placed on it, that proved he was not taught and we were being misled and deceived.
There are false diagnosis and the school has a widespread reputation of kicking kids out that don’t fit the mold. The program is not based on any evidence and only continues to use the same old archaic methods for the past 16 years despite the various learning styles that each unique child brings. Furthermore, the kids are required to nap by being forced to watch TV and are “in trouble”, if they don’t nap, or if they don’t sit in a very long circle time. Unfortunately the children are left only with one teacher for 2 hours of the afternoon, hence the mandatory napping.
Most importantly the students are not taught to communicate to each other when problems arise and do not learn about empathy or how to resolve conflict.
Since our child has left this school all the described problems have disappeared; which leads us to believe it was the environment that was causing the perceived issues.
