My child has been bitten multiple times (40+ times in 10 months). In first 3 months of attendance, he’d come home with 19 bite marks (and not always a note to accompany it-sometimes he was getting hurt and no one realized). He learned biting there; he didn’t have his first infraction for biting until after 6 months of attendance, and the first two times he bit were in defense of having just been bitten (I have the documentation to prove it). Five times he’s been bitten twice in the same day (three of those days the bites were within 5-8 minutes of each other).
The supervision is poor. I went to pick up my child one day (about 9 months into attendance) and the teacher was asleep in the dark with 3 children (including mine) playing in the dark unsupervised. Nothing was done, I didn’t even receive an incident report documenting that day and I don’t know if the other parents were informed their children were irresponsibly left unsupervised; that teacher is STILL employed.
Recently, they’ve informed us my child will be removed from care for biting if it continues, but they aren’t acknowledging that their lack of adequate supervision is a factor in why he’s learned to bite there and why it continues to occur. They don’t call when your child bites someone until after they threaten to remove the child from their “care.”
They have serious staffing problems, attentiveness problems, and—most notably— they have systemic records problems. When I let the director know that I was upset he was being held to a different standard than other kids who had bitten him, she was confused. Apparently they have no real record of him being bitten, despite myself having copies of the documents.
Worst daycare experience of my life. Staff is poorly trained. School age teachers are on the same level as the kids. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place!
