Read & Play Academy is a disaster! Director Ms. Perez tends to be professional but her daughter who is always at the center is rude and unprofessional. The center follow DCF’s guidelines as they please and when it’s convenient for them, but always after they’ve received their weekly cash payment. The teachers are very professional but are treated poorly as well being screamed at and talked down to in front of the parents.
At the beginning of the time of my child at the school they promised to have learning activities and evaluations and none was delivered. Do not waste your time or money at this facility.
This facility is a disaster, the director only is interested in money... i had my 2 year old daughter who needs speech therapy and the director keept the files for twoo weeks and di not allow them ( therapist) take back. the teacher always said that my daugther ate all food when i knew she did not...at the beginnings they promises that have a teacher expert in the potty training and is a big lie...i do not recomend this facility.
I was very happy in the beginning but unfortunately everything faded with time. I feel the Director is strictly in the business for the money, she's rude and unprofessional. They have a great teacher for the younger toddlers which is probably the main reason I stayed there for so long nonetheless there's a revolving door with the remaining staff. They have little daily logs which they lie in so I don't understand why even give the parent the log. The vibe in the daycare is just so awkward, almost like they're scared to say the wrong thing. My son learned a lot while being there but his behavior was not the best and he cried every single day when I dropped him off. The smell of bleach is also unbearable.
They definitely undelivered what they promised. They promised full cooperation during potty training, they didn't pull through. They only potty trained half the day and gave up the rest of the day. AND I highly doubt they ever taught them how to brush their teeth...which is fine because I can teach him but then why request the supplies and promise that it will be done.
It wasn't a horrible daycare but truly was a disappointment.
My child has been attending Play and Read academy for the last year or so. The director at this facility is very difficult to have a conversation with. She does not care about the wellbeing of the children. She is only interested in personal gain (money). I feel that if you are in a field that you work with children that you should have a interest in the well-being of the children. My child is low in weight and when I asked if he was eating she told me “Yes! He eats all of his food” come to find out he was not eating any of food. They will give extra milk because that is what he like’s. When I took my child to his pediatrician; she informs me that he has a high amount of Vitamin D; which can cause kidney disease and lymphoma. I also feel that facility does not educate the children. If your family only speaks English please do not enroll them in this school. None of the teachers speak English. There are also times when my child comes home with bumps and burses. Speaking as a concern parent this is not the facility to enroll your child.
