About the Provider

Description:

Welcome to Pint-Sized Preschool!!

Pint-Sized Preschool is a program that has been thoughtfully planned in order to create a diverse and welcoming environment. It is my goal to incorporate my 20 years of experience with a variety of early childhood educational theories so that I can best meet the needs of each individual child.

Pint-Sized Preschool does use and follow a NC approved preschool curriculum however our learning goes far beyond any curriculum. I firmly believe children should have hands-on, child centered, daily learning opportunities that prepare them for success beyond a classroom.

From the moment children arrive at Pint-Sized Preschool they begin learning. Every moment is a teachable one and every skill is scaffolding for the next. From the typical colors, shapes, letters and numbers to the vital independence, social skills, problem solving, self-confidence and even manners. Acceptance, gentleness and kindness are also practiced and modeled throughout our day.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

We LOVE Pint Size Preschool (PSP), Michelle and her assistants Taylor and Mr..Steve are Amazing! My LO previously had HORRIBLE separation anxiety, however since starting at PSP she loves going and at times she is not ready to leave in the afternoons :)
It's a small group of kiddos all close in age. So they learn from each other and get lots of 1 on 1 time. They provide a great and fun learning environment inside and outside.
Michelle is great communicating with us about everything and she seems to do everything possible to stay open, even when other schools and daycare close she stays open as long as she realistically can.
Since starting there my LO has started talking more and can follow 2+ step directions, even clean up her toys!
Michelle provides very healthy meals and snacks & has been amazing at working around our food allergies. Weather permitting the kids get lots of play time outside and they have a great outside playground as well as they go on several field trips a yr. This is a wonderful in home daycare and I have no reservations recommending it to anyone in the area! We are lucky to have such a amazing place in our community!

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My daughter has been attending Pint Sized Preschool for 18 months.  I could not be happier with the care she receives there.  I give this family daycare five golden stars.   Now for more detail ...

As a first time mommy I was so nervous about picking the right daycare.  The moment we met Michelle (the owner) I felt confident that Pint Sized was the perfect place.  Michelle is an experienced Mom herself, very loving and kind with children and with a lot of experience.  She devotes a significant amount of space in her home to the daycare.  The atmosphere is clean, with age appropriate equipment and toys, safe, and loving.  Michelle uses a healthy mix of planned curriculum and free play.  And a lot of love!  Nearly every week I get a new piece of art from one of the children's activities, which I proudly display at my office.

Michelle also makes sure the kids get plenty of outdoor time.  The daycare has an outdoor play area. This past summer they ate vegetables out of the garden that the kids helped grow.  How cool is that?! Speaking of vegetables, every meal is fresh and homemade.  I would also like to mention, Miss Taylor, Michelle’s assistant.  She has developed a special bond with my daughter.  When my daughter wakes up, one of the first things she says is “Taylor?” because she is ready to go play with her Miss Taylor!

My child has thrived in this environment.  At a year old, my child was walking, using some words, and using sign language that Michelle taught her.  At her year old wellness visit, our doctor told us that developmentally our child was already at the level of an 18 month old.  A big shout out to the care at Pint Sized for that!

This daycare has gone from a childcare center for us to being an extension of our family.  I was hospitalized for five days in mid-October.  My extended family all lives out of state.  We didn’t have family available to care for our daughter the night we went to the ER.  Michelle stepped in and took care of her not only while I had to go to the ER, but for the week that I was in the hospital.  I missed my baby girl during that time, but because I knew Michelle was taking care of her, I knew I didn’t have to worry.

I was shocked to see a negative review posted on this site.  I don't think it was posted by a real client.  Although the reviewer refers to Michelle's son, Michelle doesn't have a son.

I have used this provider for less than 6 months

My son almost 18 months old loves going to Michelle's. He has been going since he was 14 months. It took him only a couple of weeks to get over his separation anxiety. He is well loved and cared for everyday. The entire family was the perfect answer for our little one. He gets fed a healthy meal and snacks every day. The menu is posted weekly so we know what our little ones are eating. They get involved in creative activities every day and spend time outside when the weather is friendly. I was so concerned about finding the perfect place for him while I am at work. The owner doesn't even have a son so the one star review above is completely inaccurate. As a 4th grade teacher I find myself to be pretty discerning and I would recommend Pint Size to anyone looking for childcare.

My son attended care here for over 3 years tuntil starting school. I was always been amazed by their passion for what they do. This family has always been willing to go above and beyond for every child that comes through their door, whether it be a child enrolled in their program, or a child in the community that needs a friend, a safe place to stay, or a little extra guidance. Our community is lucky to have such a great option for childcare.
