Description: Peregrine School is a nonprofit, independent school for the 21st century that strives to integrate the rigorous academics of a classical liberal arts education with child-centered, project-based learning. The Peregrine mission is to educate children to be creative, critical thinkers. Peregrine School strives to create life-long learners who reach their full potential as contributors to the global community.
We teach children to love learning, to question and think critically, and to explore their own creativity. Like a liberal arts college, we attempt to develop the whole child, encouraging explorations in Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM), in traditional disciplines, and in the arts. Our foods and physical education programs encourage health.
We are a cross-age community, from 18 months through 14 years, that focuses on taking care of each other and learning to be responsible members of the world community. To this end, we incorporate mindfulness, community service learning, respect and cooperation between all parties, active parent involvement, social and environmental awareness, and good citizenship.
Our philosophy and classroom practices derive from the latest research in child development, teaching and learning, and brain development. We are independent of any philosophical or church affiliation, but we maintain partnerships with a variety of university and professional organizations which collaborate with us to promote excellence in teaching and learning. In short, we see ourselves as a “private school in the public interest.”

I have had my child in Peregrine for a very short time and in the midst of puling him out. The classes are chaotic, I have witness some unsafe management of the children, there is no sense of organization, some children have cubbies and other have various paper bags and diaper boxes substituting a cubby, the teachers are nice but seem to randomly be in and out of the classroom when the toddlers are all over the playground with very questionable ratios at times. The menu was supposed to supposed to be mostly organic and local, very balanced and healthy. I witnessed cold pizza that looked like last nights dinner being brought out for lunch. The snacks I have seen are also not what I would considered a nutrient dense or balanced for a young growing body. The school appears excellent from a quick tour but after only a few days there I have never been so upset leaving my child in the care of someone else and will quickly find a new school.
