Description: Pathways Early Learning Center (PELC) is an inclusionary childcare and preschool program offering a nurturing environment and high quality educational experiences for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. PELC promotes child development in an inclusive environment that emphasizes growth in intellectual, physical, social, emotional, language, and adaptive skill domains. The program aims to ignite intellectual curiosity, facilitate language development, encourage behavioral regulation, teach cooperative social interaction skills, and foster the capacity to follow classroom routines and group instructions. PATHWAYS CURRICULUM: Is guided by Maine’s Early Childhood Learning Guidelines Builds on children’s unique interests and natural curiosity through Thematic Based Learning Units Draws from research-based programs including The Creative Curriculum and Handwriting without Tears Is adaptable to accommodate the specialized service needs of children within an inclusive setting. Pathways Early Learning Center seeks to create openings for typically developing children and children diagnosed with developmental delays, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders by investing in ongoing recruitment, training, facility expansion and innovative partnerships with CDS and local early childhood programs.
