I just stumbled onto this site, and had to leave a review! New Thought Montessori has been heaven sent to our family and the community. The children are soo loved by each teacher, the owners are amazing, and the families that support this school are beyond anything my husband and I ever imagined. We have made life long friendships here and cannot wait for our son to join his sister. I cannot say enough about New Thought and the gem it is to Lake Forest. Thank you again!
I’m not sure how I stumbeled upon this site. I am however shocked at these two other reviews. We have been at New thought since 2018. The school is amazing!! The owners and teachers go above and beyond for the children and the parents. They are constantly upgrading the yard and the inside! When you walk into the school it is peaceful, calming and beautiful. They always have diffusers going and everyone is so happy! They have guinea pigs and a rabbit that roam the school. We are so in love and grateful to have our baby boy starting in September!
I wanted to like New Thought, I really did. I tried so hard to... but no.
My child went here for about four months.
1- She was sick literally every week, I understand that kids get sick when they go to school, but weekly? Her doctor even recommended taking her out saying it might be sanitary reasons.
2- there were 3 occasions where she got hurt and I was not aware. I had to ask them myself if they knew what happened and they never did.
First time: picked her up and noticed her entire nose was scraped, not a scratch but the skin was scraped off. I asked one of her teachers. Miss Jen if she knew what happened and her response was , “ oh I didn’t even notice that, it happens.. it happens when kids come to school” no s*** it happens, but why don’t you know what happens and/or even care. She totally dismissed me and acted like I was doing her an inconvenience by asking.
Second time: picked her up and her face, in a bunch of places was all scratched up. Again nobody told me what happened until I asked. I was told she fell off a bike. Okay, got it. Again, why don’t you ever come to me first or even act concerned. Her whole face was bruised for a week.
Third and Last time! Entire back of hand was scratched, not just scratched, looked like a cat or something had ripped into her skin. Leaving lots of scabs and dry blood. Again, I had to ask and nobody knew how it happened.
Don’t schools have to write up “ouch reports” or something? Or communicate what had happened to the parents without us chasing them down? The worst part of it was that when I would ask what happened, it seemed like I was nuts for wondering.
3- Bathroom was overflowing with dirty poopy diapers that kids could easily touch and reach. Trashcan in bathroom had to be touched to open. (With all the poopy diapers inside..ew)
4- teachers never said hello or goodbye or even acknowledged existence, until one of the parents complained and they started saying hi and bye lol thanks
5- upon pick up, no communication at all. No daily report on what she did. And when asked teachers didn’t seem to want to really explain.
This school made me feel so incredibly uncomfortable and I should have pulled her out WAY sooner. I felt like they were doing ME a favor by watching my daughter. This place gave me an off feeling from the start and I really should have gone with my gut. I guess the positive out of this is that it was a learning experience for what I don’t want in a child care program.
On a positive note, the only teacher I would see really interacting with the kids and playing with them and showing true compassion was Miss Erin. As for the others, not really.
I know this is a new school and needs more experience. But compassionate teachers are key. Not teachers who look like they don’t want to be there and are just waiting to go home.
My child attended this school for about 8 months. The teachers at this school lack compassion and experience. It is a fairly new school and it shows in how it is run. They have no idea what they’re doing and can care less about the children. Teachers have attitudes and do not like answering questions. I would not recommend this school to anyone and I feel bad for the kids that still attend that school.
