I have struggled a lot with not understanding why I’m so vocal about situations over the last few years and have prayed that God would quiet me down some. I’ve been so frustrated lately with feeling like He’s not hearing my prayers. Until today.
Today, it hit me that God has been trying to tell me He gave me my outspoken voice for a reason. To speak up for those that aren’t in a position to do it for themselves.
I have had concerns with the daycare my children were attending in morehead and I have brought those concerns up numerous times with their director. They didn’t seem to really care about addressing those concerns and tightening up their policies centered around student safety. Since I am the vocal one, I am the problem.
I’m not coming on here to bash the individual business but I really wish more parents knew how to address their concerns so daycares were held to a better standard. Communities deserve to have places where they can trust their children are safe while they are at work.
My child has been bitten more than 12 times, kids have gotten out of the building without adults knowing where they were, people have been able to pick up children that weren’t on their pickup forms and no IDs were checked, teachers filling out documentation and daily logs incorrectly with no idea what really should be put on them, children crawling/hiding/crying in the middle of the legs of large/heavy fold up tables, toddlers crawling into cabinets where the diaper cream is stored and teachers not even knowing they were in there, the list could go on and on with just my own stories and observations.
When it comes to children and their safety, if your gut feels like something is off, say something. Say something to anyone that will listen. When a child is at risk, you’re not the crazy one when it comes to trying to hold people accountable.
I just wish more people would do that for our children.
