Violation Observed: On the day of the inspection a sick child was dismissed from the elementary school day into the program by the district school nurse. This sick child's parents had been called earlier during the school day, but hadn't picked her up as of the end of the day. This child was sat in the gym in a chair by the nurse in an attempt to keep her isolated. The child was sitting next to several children and was not isolated. Another similar incident happened the previous Friday when a sick child was sent to after care and not home and then threw up 3 times during the after care program. Ensure children that become sick during the school day are sent home and not to after care. just because the child is enrolled in after care does not mean that the program can accept sick children. |
