I want to say that this is the second daycare my kids have been to and the best! The teachers are amazing and so caring! They treat my kids like their own! It's wonderful as a single mom to know my kids are treated so well!
The owner Michelle Weaver has become a confidant and friend. She always has positive words for me in the situation I'm dealing with and is so understanding of my situation and circumstances! We stay in close contact and she runs what I believe to be the best daycare I have ever found! It is clean and doesn't smell like most daycares do. She takes a lot of pride in her facilities.
I would like to personally thank Michelle and all the teachers at Michelle's Academy (Bkacklick) for being such caring, loving, awesome people!
I didn't come here with intentions on commenting - I was actually looking for a rights and responsibilities help guide- but I stumbled upon a few comments that made me raise my hand too. I recently had some issues with the owner regarding payment, there was some confusion about amounts owed and what's already been paid, just messy stuff. Michelle was very quick to jump the gun, was very rude, uninformed and disrespectful. Even when she was corrected about numbers from one of the directors - she never came back to me to apologize, she just kept picking on me and harassing me with no merit. I expressed to Michelle I liked the schooling and the environment my child is in and I also expressed that I was especially glad that her attitude was not a reflection of their academics, and less than 1 week later she emailed me again harassing me about payment due Monday ( i received the email Monday before daycare closed) and I remided her that I know what I need to pay and when it is due, her next email was : " don't come back, I filled your spots" . I am a working mother of 5 (and student) and she used her authority in a way that no one should ever do, but instead of sinking to her level, I'm going to sit back and let God have this one, because lord knows something is not right with this women.
I am writing because I have been compelled to let everyone know how my experience at Michelle’s Academy has been since enrolling my children. First and foremost, I must say that I truly love the teachers my kids have and they have made me feel welcome from day one. Never did I think I would find a place that cares so much for my children as if they were their own. My kids come home happy and full of excitement. What they have learned thus far, in my opinion, will put them miles ahead of many.
From the staff to the directors that I have come in contact with, they have been nothing but helpful when I needed information or if I had a concern as it pertains to the children. Even during my tour they made me feel at home and my husband, who can object to just about anything when it comes to his children, gave me the huge thumbs up. I have been happy with this decision since day one and not once have I doubted my decision.
What I love the most when I visit this Facebook page is the unity and support the teachers give each other and how parents chime in with their approval. I have never seen that amongst coworkers and you can tell that they are genuine and not just giving fluff to promote a business. We are not a number to them, but a part of the Michelle’s Academy family. For the longest time you could see in their faces and eyes that they truly love what they do from day to day. The interactions with the kids and myself are not shallow, but they ask how the evening/weekend was or when we went on vacation they wanted to know every little detail. They were truly interested in what my children had to say and that elates me.
I have been to other daycare centers where you got that cold feeling as soon as you walked in the door. They didn’t remember who I was there for and when would ask about their days the staff acted as if they were too busy to take the time to give me a brief rundown of the day. It was also near impossible to reach a director or any member of management when I had a concern. I walked away many times feeling like no one cared about my family. I felt replaceable in these companies. That’s why Michelle’s Academy has been a breath of fresh air.
Unfortunately, without that being said, I must lodge a complaint against a particular person who is a part of this company who has made me feel less than welcome. That person is Michelle Weaver. For a private business owner trying to make a name in two locations, she sure does know how to turn people off in a heartbeat. Her demeanor is cold and I have found her to be quite rude and disrespectful with families and staff. She shows no regard for her employees and the work that they put into her company. While I have not been witness to specific incidences, I have heard from other families that she has been caught on more than one occasion yelling at her staff members in the halls during parent pick up. To insult and belittle your staff in front of parents and students lacks class and shows me, and I’m sure others, that you think you are better than them.
Additionally, the fact that you are rarely a presence in your buildings and that no one can ever contact you with concerns as simple as tax information, receipts and tuition questions leads me to believe that you have less than honest business practices. For you to tell me or other parents that we need to balance our checkbooks when we ask why a check for tuition from 2 weeks prior has not cleared is demeaning. I know how to balance a checkbook and when I write you a check I take that into consideration when I pay other bills or make purchases. What I have discovered is that you, Michelle, do not know how to manage your finances. You are not as slick and crafty as you think you are my dear. Your customers and, I’m sure your staff by this point, can see through your lies. I’m sure this is why you make your presence scarce. You appear to be about the numbers and dollar signs rather than what makes a business a business, which at the least is showing respect and consideration for those you come in contact with daily.
I love that there was a post a few weeks back where you brought to everyone’s attention how the owner of Primrose of Reynoldsburg was blasted for his disregard for a family whose child was being bullied. When you posted that review you said, “I would be so upset if someone thought this about us…”. As I read through the thread that day and the encouraging responses from other parents and staff, I couldn’t bring myself past one of your final comments which said, “I would be heartbroken if anyone ever thought this of me, or us…”. In the back of my head I kept thinking, “she is not much better and in fact may be worse than him”.
Well Michelle, there are many people right now who think this of you and I find that disheartening. I also find it disheartening that people are afraid to say this to you for fear of retaliation against them or their child(ren). No one should ever be made to feel 2 inches tall for any reason and you have consistently done this to many with whom you have come in contact with over the years. The one thing you need to remember, if anything, is that your name is on the front of these buildings, but your employees are the face of Michelle’s Academy. They keep the doors open and your directors keep your classrooms full. Without any of them you would not be as successful as you are today. They are the success of that company. So while I sit and truly consider where to go from here in terms of the continued enrollment of my children, I truly hope and pray that you will take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if this is who you wanted to be as a business owner.
Success is not always measured by the numbers in your bank account, the car you drive, how big your house is or your zip code. Success will be measured by your reputation as a human being because at the end of the day when all is said and done; when you finally close the doors of Michelle’s Academy (hopefully this will not be a reality for you), people are not going to remember how much you made, but rather what your character.
To the staff of Michelle’s Academy. Thank you for a wonderful experience. You are amazingly, loving people and I couldn’t ask for better people to care for my children.
Sincerely
A Truly Disappointed Family
I went for a tour with this school and loved the facilities. I was told they would have an opening within a couple of weeks. The person who toured with me told me she would email me the parent handbook and get me the information to register. A week later I called to check the status of getting the parent handbook and registering and I was told they no longer have an opening. I was willing to go on a wait list so I just told her that we'd like to do that and my husband would like to come see the facilities. They told me that coming after 5PM was inconvenient for them and they'd have someone call me to "work out a time that wasn't so inconvenient." I waited three days, never received a phone call so I called them -- the phone call went straight to voicemail. I've chosen to go somewhere else. If they don't get back with me when I'm offering them business, I don't feel confident I'd be able to reach them if something happened with my child. Bad business.
