About the Provider
Maple Leaf Academy Preschool of the North Shore offers a professionally designed, Montessori philosophy curriculum; complete with lesson plans, progress reports, writing journals and newsletters for parents to use as a guide. Children learn through hands on play and structured activities in our well organized classrooms. We strive to keep a positive and nurturing atmosphere in the classroom. We continuously work on social development, emphasizing respect, kindness and getting along with others. We use "teachable moments" as opportunities to reinforce the children's academic and social skills. Our classrooms are organized into "learning environments." These are areas where the children can find toys and materials related by theme, interest, and skills. These activities may be used independently by the children, or with teacher direction, to reinforce and enrich skills and concepts necessary for early childhood development. Learning environments are an excellent way to individualize the curriculum to meet the varying needs of young children.
Music, dance, art, literature, and play are integrated into our curriculum as well as reading, writing, and math readiness skills. Social studies and science are also incorporated through our thematic units. Everything we do is based on the latest research in early childhood development.
