I second and third everything posted above. It never fails, whichever park I take my kids to, their van rolls up and it's heartbreaking. I am sorry for the parents paying money to these people to "care" for their children. I would say the mask controversy they were apart of this year are the LEAST of their concerns. Adults only looked up from their phones to yell, threaten, or punish (time out for an hour or more for one) the kids.
Looking around for a local daycare, I viewed the Lighthouse Learning Center’s Facebook page. It was eye opening and concerning. No masks on teaching staff or children. No social distancing measures in place and shared food. Everything went against CDC guidelines and our state mandates. How they can continue to operate this was during a pandemic is incredibly irresponsible.
On Monday August 13, 2018, I was on vacation and planned on spending the day at Barrett Park in Boothbay Harbor ME. Beautiful setting on a perfect day. Then the Lighthouse Learning Center arrived with two vans full of children and two adults. I have never witnessed such mis-behaved, un-supervised children in my life. These kids were throwing rocks at one another, I witnessed four boys bullying a young girl. The final straw for me was when I watched one of the adults push a child into the water off a stone wall. The boy clearly stated he did not want to go back into the water and this adult pushed him anyway and then laughed about it. This was the only interaction I saw between the children and the adults. One of the adults just sat in a chair and never moved the whole time I was there. There were many kids in the water who took off their life jackets and used them to hit each other with. I was so upset with the behavior of these children and adults that I left the park and found another location to enjoy my day.
