I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I want to preface that I write this review with an extremely heavy heart. However, it is my responsibility as a parent to make sure that other parents know what happened because our child was INJURED by a staff member at this location.

Our daughter was enrolled at this center for just a little over 1 year and 2 months. Throughout the course of our time here, there were a few incidents that occurred which we were not happy with, but they were able to be resolved to our satisfaction. Overall, we were happy and, most importantly, so was our toddler (for the majority of the time).

On February 28th of this year, things took a very drastic turn for the worst.

At bedtime that night, my daughter began to describe how Ms. Alyson had hurt her arm. Confused, but acknowledging that this was a very serious moment, I took out my phone to record her account of what happened. I sent the recording to the Director of the school, Mr. DQ Meek along with the Owner, Joann Johnson and asked that they investigate the matter.
Mr. Meek promptly responded to my email and the next evening called to inform me that after reviewing the footage of the classroom that day, he did see Ms. Alyson handle my daughter in a manner that was "too forceful than I am comfortable with." Those were his words exactly! He also went on to say that she had been "reprimanded, written up and disciplined."

My husband and I made an appointment to come visit with Mr. meek in person on Friday, March 4th. (The owner, Joann, was not a part of any of these conversations as she was out of the country when all of this happened.)

During our face-to-face, we made Mr. Meek aware that we would be pulling our daughter out. We also informed him of the fact that our 4 year old daughter had been left with a BRUISE on her upper right arm as a result of the incident. There is absolutely NO denying that the bruise came as a result of the incident with Alyson Edwards because during our meeting with Mr. Meek, we were able to review the footage of the incident and it clearly showed Alyson walking up to our daughter's cot where she was lying on her back. Alyson grabs her by the right upper arm and yanks her VERY violently to force her onto her left side. My daughter even told me on the night of the 28th that Ms. Alyson had told her if she didn't turn over, she was going to be mad at her.

The Texas State Code prohibits any child care center or worker from forcing a child to sleep. It is extremely apparent however, that Alyson was trying to force our daughter to sleep by also forcing her into a position that she believed would be optimal for sleeping. My daughter was lying on her back on her cot. There was NOT and will NEVER be a reason why a child needs to be FORCED into another position, especially so VIOLENTLY by somebody you have entrusted to care for your child. Alyson Edwards acted completely unprovoked and her actions are completely inexcusable, yet Mr. Meek and Mrs. Johnson apparently believe her actions are worth overlooking as they have chosen to completely disregard the safety of all other children at the center so as to not disrupt their day to day operations.

When we met with Mr. Meek in person, he stated that he could not let Alyson go because she was also their bus driver and he had no one to replace her both inside the school and on the road. Even after my husband pointed out the huge liability he would be taking on by keeping her, he didn't seem phased. It wasn't until after we both began crying from seeing the footage of Alyson inappropriately handling our daughter, that he agreed to terminate her employment that day. I learned later that this was just a lie to make us feel comforted in the moment as they had in fact kept her on.

At the end of the day, my daughter was hurt in their care and I will tell everyone who is willing to listen. I did in fact report the center to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services who has issued citations for violations so you know I am not writing a false review. I also filed a Police Report with the City of Pearland.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

My 2 children attended KAPW. My daughter for six month as an before/ after schooler and my son from 2016- March 2020. Aside from the frequent changes in staff (every 2/3 months there are new teachers , office management as changed 6 times in my 4 years there ) , the facility does a poor job at maintaining ethical and fair practices. When COVID forced the facility to close the owner made several arrangements to keep students enrolled so that the facility could still receive payment, one of the options was 50 percent off tuition if you agree to keep your child home . As an educator I opted to remove my son permanently since I would be home and able to provide care. On March 26 I provided written notice of my sons termination of enrollment , Joann then sent me a bill for two months of tuition as well as 2 late fees. She has insisted that I didn’t give her notice until April , which is not true and sent my account to collections !. Additionally, Joann has gone against the enrollment contract and has refused to honor the $200 security deposit for each child that is suppose to be added as a credit to the last bill. Even after I sent her multiple emails, my original contract from 2016 that’s states the security deposit would be credited , and statement of the $200 security deposit that was credited when I withdrew my daughter in 2017, Joann is still insisting that security deposit was never paid and didn’t apply to families who enrolled prior to 2017. Joann has been unwilling to reason with me and resolve this matter. BEWARE! If you send your child here KEEP all your statements and have EVERYTHING in writing when dealing with Joann. She is dishonest and everything is money driven at this facility. Aside from the 1000 a month we paid they are ask for money every holiday for parties , snow cone truck comes in the summer it’s $3 per child and only kids with the money can get which I think is unfair for any child to have to watch their friends enjoy something they can’t, you pay a supply fee of $150 2 a year and crayons/ pencils are broken into pieces. The exterior of the building may be appealing but doesn’t match the quality of education and care received. Consider all options before enrolling your kids here !
