I brought my son here because all of his cousins went here and they all talked about how they loved their experience. For about the first year or so it was a decent experience.
However, everything went south when one day I noticed that my son came home with several bug bites on his arm and his entire forearm was swollen. I previously had discussions with his teacher that he was allergic to bug bites and needed bug spray every time he went outside. Instead of taking responsibility for not putting his bug spray on, the owner Angela got extremely defensive, would talk over me any time I tried to speak, and again refused to accept accountability. It got so bad that I just had to stop speaking to her completely for about a month. When we eventually did have a face to face conversation about what happened again she was extremely disrespectful, yelling over me, punching her fist into her hand, and tried to kick my son out of her daycare. We eventually came to an agreement because I wanted him to stay at the same daycare with his cousins. I later found out that around the same time DPFS cited her for tall grass in her yard the same month that my son was bit. She cut the grass approximately a week after being cited, but obviously did not treat the yard. She was also cited for having a pile of loose bricks in the backyard that the children had access to.
She recently closed the location at her home and is supposed to be moving to a new location. During this transition, I decided it would be best that I removed my son from her care. Since being at his new daycare, his new teacher has noticed that he has behaviors that are similar to someone defending themselves from being hit -- which is consistent with a previous review on here.
At one point, the owner, transfered the title of being director over to another employee. She never told us why, but I would assume that she had been cited so many times they were probably going to shut her down if she didn't transfer being director to someone else. Even since changing who is director, they were cited 7 times in one day. Parents were never informed of these citations, not even the ones where children could have been harmed (loose pile of bricks).
On July 3 2018, I written a note to God explaining how the daycare was horrible, hitting babies with spoons and making fun and being harsh to other kids. Soon I left the note and couldn't go back cause it was July 4. The day after independence Day, she pulled me into her office and the things I remember her saying were "my daycare is fine and the parents let me pop the babies and you better not tell anyone or else and go cry and tell your mommy!" And she asked me questions like "how would you run a daycare(meanly)". And "what's so wrong with hitting the babies". Gladly I don't go there but don't let your kids suffer the things I went through!
I love Kiesha Kare Academy. My 3 grandchildren have been going to K K A for a year now and I absolutely Love It. The atmosphere is safe sterile and kid friendly. They are learning so much. If you are looking for a day care in a home environment full of love, I would recommend this day care. Five Stars
