I wanted to share my experience that I had in working with the director - Lorie to get my daughter enrolled for pre-school. Unfortunately, this experience proved to be one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered. Lorie may be nice when you talk to her in person but when speaking to her on the phone she often and frequently is rude, arrogant and argumentative. Especially when trying to ask clarifying questions. What I find most concerning and troubling was that she never returned any of my phone calls. I left several voice messages and never once got a return call.
When I did speak with her asking even simple questions like how should we pay for school, where can I get more details on the school, why are there multiples of the same form that are needed to be filled out sparked responses of her speaking to me in a condescending manner as if I were a child or didn’t know anything, or often didn’t have answers to my basic questions. For example, I asked her on more than occasion as to what the exact tuition would be for my daughter to which she either couldn’t figure it out or stated that her computer was down (yet again). I would have accepted a simple “let me figure that out and get back to you” but she never offered that or seemingly didn’t demonstrate any interest in helping me understand the cost, the curriculum or the school.
Additionally, I was trying to ask her about the forms that she provided as they were confusing as the alignment of the printed text was off, or sentences were cut off on the paper. In one instance I was asking about where on the cost sheet it stated “6 month prepared tuition discount: 5% off:” to which she stated “no, we don’t have this option anymore and no one does this ever.” I indicated to her this option was clearly stated on the cost sheet she provided to which she stated firmly “no one ever does this in our school.”
Trying to speak with her on the phone ultimately proved to be impossible. She often cut me off, wouldn’t let me respond or didn’t have the information I was looking for. On more than one occasion she didn’t remember the prior conversation we had and in one instance she confused me with some other parent mentioning their name instead of mine.
Since I couldn't get answers to many of my questions, I tried to contact the owner of the school, Tracy. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. Somehow Lorie found out that I was trying to contact the owner, I assume she talked to the owner then called me the next day and yelIed at me for going over her head to complain about her and indicated that because of that my daughter would not be admitted to the school. I indicated to her that I felt her tone and comments were unacceptable and that if she was going to not allow my daughter to attend simply because I was trying to get answers my questions then I was going to leave a bad review on yelp. She then accused me of threatening her which is utterly preposterous.
I want you to be aware of her behavior as the entire experience in trying to work with Lorie was unacceptable. It is unfortunate as we had considerable interest in having our daughter attend there; however, I will not allow my daughter to attend a school where there are individuals that treat people with such disrespect and not regard for common courtesies.
In the end of my conversation with Lorie, she did promise me to mail me back a check for $100 for the enrollment fee we have paid, which I have yet to receive. Hope she will at least be honest and keep her promise.
Now we have enrolled my daughter to another bilingual pre-school in the area, we couldn’t be happier about my daughter’s new school. The new school director is day and night difference from Lorie, not only the new school director is kind and nice when talking on the phone but also very clear and organized, straight forward and patiently answered all my questions.
