I can’t speak to the new teachers currently at Journey school but I can speak to the treatment my child received before we left. It was absolutely awful. The headmaster who is now set to work at the new school Havenwood elementary was the one in charge when child abuse happened at Journey school. So child abuse, lying, saying things that could ruin someone’s life etc all occurred at Journey school. Lucky Journey school has a new head master, unfortunately Havenwood didn’t get the memo and there is growing fear things will be even more abusive at Havenwood nature school.
The school has “abuse of a child” on their record with the State Department of Family and Protective Services. It’s listed on the state’s website.
A trash collection company borders the property behind the school. In my opinion, when the wind blows from the west, you can smell the trash and other pollutants throughout the playground. One class eats breakfast and lunch outside just feet away from where the trash trucks park on the other side of the fence.
There is frequent teacher turnover and in my opinion supervision is very questionable. The classes are much larger than other area preschools.
The school prides itself on being part of the community, but the owner isn’t local, in fact they don’t even live in the US.
The pros...hours are very convenient and the food is great.
