Description: Our Mission ...
Jolliff Day School is a ministry of the education division of Jolliff United Methodist Church. We offer developmentally appropriate experiences and activities that promote the growth and development of the whole child.
We believe in ministering to each child's needs academically, spiritually, physically, socially, and emotionally. The gift of Christ is given to children through Bible stories, verses, songs, and the loving care of our devoted staff.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. I served on the school board of Jolliff Day School. I no longer live in the Hamton Roads area and can make some statements that are unbiased and accurate. I see only one response published on this site. All of the information stated is totally untrue and inaccurate. I have been a public school teacher for 32 years and a college professor for 8 years. As a member of the school board, I truthfully can state without reservation that every teacher and administrator at the school exceeds most day school criteria for personnel. The teachers and staff are qualified, caring individuals who have the students best interests at heart. Students receive quality day care in a Christian learning environment that has love and kindness. Even though I am no longer in the area, I am shocked at the only posting which is negative. I urge any parent who is considering Jolliff Day School to check it out for yourself and don't let the negative response that is bogus affect your choice of a fine school. Every day in the Commonwealth of Virginia has to be licensed and under goes a review process.
By far the worst day-school experience I have ever had. The principle is Machiavellian and thats an understatement. Its her way or the highway. They are NOT child advocates in any way, This is strictly financial let it be known from the start. The children are being taught by sub-par teachers at best. One teachers credentials is "ex gas station attendant" which is fine if your goal is for your children to understand the practices of pumping gas in your honda piltot. The place is barely at a motel level of cleanliness. If I sound mean and bitter...I am. They bullied my child, they treated him with NOT an ounce of dignity. I called the state, unfortunately they are religious exempt so they are not held to the standards of other preschools and rarely get investigated. By all means take this all with a grain of salt I assure you, you will find out for yourself. If I were you I would question there less than 1/2 filled capacity and WBA's (up the street) waiting list. it is NOT a coincidence!
